  1. You can of course get an even lower profile 19 inch tyre, and a lighter weight wheel, and therefore be better off than the 17 inch wheel if your rolling circumference and weight are both better. Light weight 19 inch wheels, and very low profile 19 inch tyres will both cost a lot of money. Also - the very low profile tyres should handle better - but will provide a harsher ride.
  2. The w@nk items are now standard on Mk2 anyway - illuminated switches, twilight sensing headlights.
  3. The datadots sound great - pity they dont do the XRs as well.
  4. Do you still have blueprint in Aus? We have lost that colour now - closest is Shockwave now.
  5. Chicken what about: What is a datadot? What is the GT front suspension? Lower and/or stiffer springs? or does it add more negative camber?
  6. Also bigger intercooler isnt it?
  7. We get the front and side airbags now as well standard on XR6T, not sure if that is a mk2 or a new zealand thing, same thing with alarm. Good things I see: Oil Cooler, more boost, valve springs, rods, brake upgrade (is that why you need alloy spare?) What is a datadot? What is the GT front suspension? Lower and/or stiffer springs? or does it add more negative camber? So if you were to buy a Turbo - and upgrade the same bits - do you think the Tyhpoon is cheaper (as well as its potential future value being higher)?
  8. well - I am sure I saw somwehere it was a different model than the XR6T, is it just more boost?
  9. I guess if you have waited this long - you may as well hang in there. I would be suggesting to Ford that you get lots of extra bits and pieces thrown in for no charge - flasher interior, etc. Does anyone know of all the differences between a standard XR6T and a Typhoon? I am interested in suspension, engine etc. The bits I know: - Conrods - Turbo is bigger - Valve Springs - Wheels - Sport brakes standard - bodykit slightly different - starter button - seats a little nicer - badges What else? My opinion so far - great to have stronger conrods and valve springs - better for future mods - but if leaving both cars standard - unneeded.
  10. You would be best off fabricated a heat shield out of aluminum, backed with something like a piece of hardiplank and then an air gap between the shield and the resevoir. (or in fact have the shield protecting the whole area). I have something like this around my headers on my Cobra to stop my footwells from boiling! You will probably find that driving the car will cool things down much better than on a dyno anyway.
  11. I agree with the comments on the GT or Herrod spoilers looking better. The photo of the Typhoon looks like it is the back end of a lawn mower - just doesnt look right.
  12. PS - the mk2s (after finally getting them working on my car) are white - I thought someone mentioned blue ones as standard?
  13. cobrav8 replied to jetute's topic in Brakes
Are the standard discs covered under warranty? I always assumed that they were one part that wasnt covered - and intended on upgrading when they are worn out.
  14. This might sound cheap -but it does work. You can get a glass paint from a craft shop - and paint your bulbs blue. Works quite well - looks good. I did the footwell bulbs, main light and back lights all blue, and still have 99.9% of the bottle of paint left! The only drwaback - the light is dimmer (not a big deal) I am sure blue leds would be brighter and more vivid blue. The ignition lock - havnt looked - imagine it will be a bulb somewhere - can be painted. The steering wheel - not sure If would even try to light up - might be a bit annoying while driving?
  15. I must admit - earlier on in the saga they gave me a free momo steering wheel for the mucking about - not much different from standard - just leather instead of leatherette - but it was free! Happy with the car - but I was pretty pissed off with all the mucking about - over something as silly as doortrims!
  16. Have a listen to this story.... I have a Mk2 XR6T and should have had the lights from the start, however.... I specified leather seats for my car, and they forgot to deliver them, so... they offered me the luxury pack seats at no extra charge as they had some in stock, and could swap them over, sounds good so far? Well... the car that they took the luxury seats from somehow ended up with Mk1 doorpanels, without lighted switches, and they were a plain black vinyl, not the ones I was suppose to get with the luxury seats. So... I ended up with the wrong ones swapped in. So.. back again to get the right ones. They sourced the right door trims and replaced them - but left the unlit switches, which I finally noticed (first time I drove at night) later that week. So.... back to Ford to get them working. They put new switches in, but rang to say that the back ones didnt light up - was I expecting them to. Now to be honest, I wasnt sure - I had seen you guys making your back ones work, but didnt know if standard they had them - so I said I didnt know - but assumed they would. Anyway - so I turn up to collect the car - get all sorts of stories like the official word from Ford was that they no longer light the back switches on XR mk2s, they had several technicians spending hours trying to make them work, and couldnt do it short of running new power wires. To which - I flicked the kiddy switch off - and hey presto - the lights worked! Shows a little incompetence maybe? Dont trust everything you are told!
  17. I agree that having the guy hanging his head in the engine bay is a bit dodgy, a mechanic local to here lost bits of fingers a while ago when a fan blew to pieces while tuning a car on a dyno, cutting off fingers bad - cutting off head would likely be worse (they grow back eh?). The guy getting in the back door is pretty close to getting sucked under the back wheels as well. Awseome car though, it will certainly be a handful. I have a 700hp Cobra replica, and that is hard enough to control, add the mix of 700hp at the wheels (reasonably skinny wheels too) for this car, and the way a turbo kicks in, and it will be one hell of a fun ride!
  18. I dont know what driveline shunt is either - is that the feeling as the car comes off and on power under idle, almost like a stall?
  19. How noisy are they with the center muffler removed? What sort of power gain would you expect with Cat removed, and centre muffler removed, cold air intake made (budget tuning at this stage)?
  20. An earlier post asked about the traction and strength of the car. I would suggest you geta full cage installed as per the v8 supercars. This would strengthen the car, give better traction, handling, and possibly save the car and yourself from total destruction if everything got sticky. For the amount of money you have spent - it is a small investment in safety.
  21. So when would this new flash have come out? Would my Mk2 manufactured Feb 05 be born with less power?
  22. cobrav8 replied to XRT8U's topic in XR6 Turbo
Gees - didnt realise how many KW in a hp. though - the Cobra is sh*t your pants fast, about twice the power, half the weight of the Turbo. Only problem is the Cobra runs on Avgas and does 4 miles to the gallon, so, not terribly useful to go to work. I am really enjoying the Turbo - best of both worlds.

Funnily enough -my XR is my sensible car - bought it to tow my Cobra replica -that has about 700hp (how many KW is that?).
