Well, that was a fun night... I managed to get six passes in as well and in the process popped the Ute's cherry... Its a BF2 manual and my best run for the night was 13.5 on the SP3000's. 4 out of the 6 runs I got 111 mph and a 60 footer of 2.6 seconds. So, the lessons learnt were: 1- I can't get off the line 2- Xtreme's dyno is pretty accurate at 280 rwkws and 3 - Doesn't matter how many times people tell you to switch traction control off, you leave the bloody thing on and wonder why you can't do a proper skid

Is anyone going to WAW tomorrow night? It looks like conditions will be ideal.... Also, do any of the regulars know if you are allowed to run with your tail gate down? And if now, will any of the officials be concerned if you remove the tailgate altogether? I'm hoping to take my manual BF ute for a spin and a bit of fun.

Last year's holiday was a family drive from Rome to northern Portugal via southern France, Monaco and Spain in the new Renault laguna. Now that was fun and memorable enough, but the torquey 2 litre oil burner didn't quite make the same impression as the prancing horse from Maranello. It was a bit of a spiritual journey for me to visit the Ferrari factory and Museum. After a great morning going through the Museum, we came out and spotted 2 parked nearby a souvenir shop, an F430 and an older 355 spider. Naturally, went for a sticky bik and sure enough there was a sign: 15 minutes for 80 Euro. Big smile on my face, told the missus I could forgo lunch for the next few days and went for a ride with the 430. We got out of the carpark, into a quiet back street and the bloke driving it, just floored it in race mode, shifting just below redline, well north of 8K. I never asked if the car was his or stolen, I didn't really care at this point. I can never forget the wall of noise coming from the angry V8 sitting a few inches behind you. We topped well over 250, couldn't read the speedo with the vibration. Few corners later, we come to a petrol station, he puts fuel in and tells me I can drive now. And here I was thinking the $10 entry into Zelda's Strip club was good value! For the next 20 minutes or so I got to punt $400K worth of Enzo's finest each way I wanted, in the quiet backstreets of Modena. He told me which way to go and left the driving to me. The car just felt so violent and angry that I probably left part of my fingernails stuck in the magnificent steering wheel. The F1 box was/is superb - sorry to break it to those with the ZF, but it is too s-l-o-w Needless to say, I had a grin on my face you could not wipe off for the next month. The missus also made a comment about me giggling like a little school girl when I walked out. My pilgrimage to the holiest of Meccas was complete.

Well done on the new power levels. That's a heap of killerwasps for 15 psi. Can you give us a bit of a review of the Textralia twin plate clutch? These are the beez neez if you talk to anyone with a LSx. How does it compare with an F6 clutch, if you've driven one? Have you bought new tyres yet? Cheers, Alvaro

Well, that's a bit like saying the RS6 should've owned the F6, or any other 4 door for that matter and taken the crown. Twin turbo V10, german build quality, AWD and plenty of room for 3 baby seats in the back.... Downside, well, $250 large. The direct FPV competitor to the 6get is the new GT-E. The F6 is in a different class. These are more subtle cars that appeal to the older?!? crowd, or are simply over the spoilers and look at moi attitude. Do you think the F6 is that different from the tarted up XT? How hard would it be to build a "replica" in 30 years time, when they become valuable? Not very... Don't take it the wrong way either, I like both.

I'm saving for a new clutch. iTec - What you say makes sense, but what about the position of the Aus banks, as mentioned in the other thread? And when are the shares going to stop sliding... I guess that's the $1M ?

I, like most ppl in WA who have owned property over the last 5 years, have done well in real estate, and I am very happy and thankful for it. I have no debt and being involved in oil & gas/mining, I can't say that I am struggling financially, again, thankful for the WA boom, just looking at all the different options to invest some savings... Its very interesting to see all the different points of view and I'm sure there are a lot clever individuals on here, I see no reason why people's opinion on here is any less valuable than "some" financial experts, that work on commission, have targets to meet and may be in a very tight situation because of the current climate. Please keep it going and don't discredit other people opinions because mine is bigger than yours...

Hi everyone, just got back from holidays, driving around Europe for a while, and this changed a few of my perceptions on life... and moved my goal-posts as well... So, to all the financial gurus out there, whilst this depressing period is going on, what are the best investment options? Shares? Which type is best to get, ie, Comodities, banks... Managed funds? Again, waaaay to many for a mere mortal to choose from? Real-estate? *sigh* or do you just sit tight and watch it all unfold for the time being? And are there any decent non-biased financial advisors out there? Where do you look for them? Opinions welcome, Alvaro

The issue is that up to the Z06 came out, none of them were great handlers, not from my personal experience, just random reviews. However, the LS7 powered Z06 also handles pretty well and now the ZR1 has gone up another couple of notches. But its all come at a price - The ZR1 is no longer around the US$70K mark, its more than US$100K. US$30K more than the base model GTR. U could buy a GTR, up the boost and have enough change for a Mustang. OR you could just buy a Porker GT3. I know which one I'd rather have. The other issue is that the ZR1 is a stripped track weapon with lots of composite panels and very stiff suspension. The GTR on the other hand, can hold two yank fat-a$$es in relative confort, and your granny can drive it to the shops to get some milk. Still, credit where credit is due. ps... as much as I like japanese cars, if coin wasn't an issue, I'd rather have the slow italian red cars . And I don't think the italians particularly care that the yanks or japanese have a couple of 500kW blasters in their hands.

The LS3 is 6.2 litres, not 6.3 (not that it would make a difference)... But the LS3'a are pretty well detuned, to the point they make up to 350 rwkw with just a cam, exhaust, otr and tune. So modified ones should not be a walk-over, unless you've got over that sort of power. Standard, I think they run up about 250 rwkw - so about the same as the new XR6T :smilecouncil: Bearing in mind the new LS3 is over 50% bigger in terms of cubes than the 4.0. Can't wait for someone like Mauz or Geea to get their hands on one, put some sticky tires on the back and have a go at a mid 12 - or a 12.8 from a T. Good times ahead... I'd be spewing if I just bought a new SS ute....

Excellent guide mate. Very easy to follow to those that have taken things like this apart in the past. I use an Ampcontrol LC6 and it does the job but prior to the install, if I had come across a guide like this, I would've done it for sure. Two thumbs up....

I've had a drive of the press car/national car show duties G6ET when Titan's had the car for a couple of days. It had 5,xxx very harsh Kms on it and in the 3 days that it was at the dealer it was driven something like 40 times - not including the aprentices to get their lunch from Maccas... The car felt fantastic - 10 psi factory boost coupled with the tall first gear in the ZF makes it a very, very quick combo off the line. Nothing that hasn't been said before - anytime, any revs, any gear - mash the loud pedal and the car just goes, effortlessly. There was no squeaks or rattles, steering was very tight. The steering wheel is not as nice as the FPV's but still nice nonetheless, seating position is good (shorty @ 5'. The interior is excellent, its the cashmere (cream) color and it gives it a very spacious feel. Of course, it marks very easily so if you have kids - go the dark leather. I think you can "make do" without the LSD untill you reach 260-280 rwKws and the majority of ppl buying this car will not go past that. This is no excuse for Ford's piss poor effort. As the flagship model, it should've come std with the LSD - of course, nothing our site sponsors can't fix. The only thing I'd change on it is the factory rims for some nice dark argent or black 19's and lower it a little... Now, all I need is to convince the wife to trade in the Liberty GT And its also a shame the manual is not an option... Cheers, Alvaro

Hi guys, where is the best place to purchase the Cobalt gauges(P/N 6159 and 6153)? I've found them on US ebay for about $370 delivered. I'm guessing these are exactly the same as the AU version. And is there THAT much of a difference between Miss Ally's dual gauge pod and the FPV part? Can't decide which way to go.... Cheers, Alvaro

I got my ute through the website last year. All it does is send your email to a dealer they have an association with and the dealer will honour the discount shown to you on the website. I used the website and 2 dealers counter-bidding each other to get the best price for my ute at the time. Two thumbs up for discountnewcars.com.au and Titan Ford, winning combo Lane Ford are the other dealer that will also bend over backwards for you.
