  1. Hey buddy! If you have some weird "pet fetish" dont go dragging me and kirsty in on it!
  2. There is at least 1 fully marked XR6T here in the ACT, it followed me along Adelaide Avenue last night. It is a manual, and it has a "boosted by WGR" sticker under the Turbo badge on the boot! Next question, who is WGR? Wayne Gardner Racing was the last person I knew of to use those initials.... I think the XR8 that the Feds have has a identical sticker on it as well? VG!!! please explain!
  3. that's what we were thinking! It was nudging around the 36 - 38c mark yesterday in Tumut, but it must be hotter up there in Darwin everyday! And your car has only stopped once?

I live in a completely developed suburb (14 years) and do you thing we have any sort of cable/broadband? Nup, sorry! Good old dial up for Mick!
  5. Mine stalled yesterday as well! Was driving down a steep descent, had the car in 1st (SSS), I also had the A/C on, and my Car Bra. I am thinking the Car Bra had a lot to do with it though, it had slipped down a little, and was restricting flow to my radiator slightly. It was bl00dy hot where we were too. I was following another Turbo down the hill (saleen1), and his didnt stop........ Had a quick look last night after getting home, I noticed my sticker on my fan shroud has shrivelled up due to the heat in the engine bay! Going to check later today if anything else is buckled/warped due to the heat. Must have got hot under that bonnet! My car's engine light come on, then the power steering went all heavy (obviously the motor had stalled by that point), got out and let it sit for a minute or so, jumped back in and off we went!
  6. that's your comeback? Pfffttttt...... Come back later when you think of something, um, BETTER!! :banghead:
  7. Hey! It hasnt got nearly 11000 klms on it just from dyno testing you know! I do drive my car, just not everyday. Ducati, while your car was in the panel beaters getting the scratches fixed on the rear bumper, did you enquire about upgrading those puny size 18's? And maybe do something about those sad, pathetic little brakes while you are at it!  Cmon John, keep them coming, I enjoy shooting you down.......
  8. Unfortunately if I was to upgrade, I would have to go with a GT. I dont feel comfortable in the GT-P seats! For the people that know me, they will agree that I am certainly not the smallest bloke in the world, and the side of the GT-P seats dig into my thighs way too much. Its weird, I have Recaro's in my XC, and I fit in them fine.....
  9. I am going to approach Ford in relation to this, once I have a fair idea of how many people are serious about doing this. I am still asking for idea's and opinions at this point. Ultimately I would like us all to agree on who we are going to use, that way hopefully the majority will be happy! If everyone says Wakefield is the go, we will go to Wakefield. If everyone says BMW looks the best, I will book with them.

The best advice for someone moving to the ACT? Dont! Canberra sucks! One of the hottest towns when it is summer, one of the coldest towns when it is winter. The strangest climate I have ever heard of........ The only good thing about the ACT is its locality. It is only 1 and a half hours to the bay, and 2 and a half hours to sydney. Canberra is that boring, me and Ross are driving to Tumut tomorrow for something to do!!!! (no offence rob!)
  11. When we go up for the V8's, we stay in at Carlton Crown Parramatta. Not that far from Blacktown (10 - 15 mins tops), and when we booked through RatesToGo.com, it only cost me $80. Full security parking, 4 and a half star hotel, right in the middle of Parramatta. We had Cameron McConville stay in the room next to us last time, and a whole stack of Expensive Daewoo Young Lions mechanics on our floor too! I have taken my turbo there, and had no problems at all. that's where Ill be staying, for sure.
  12. Me and Kirsty will make the trip up for sure. Heard soooooo much about that friggin Krispy Kreme place, cant wait to check it out!
  13. Well that's something I had always wondered! Why have some GT bars got solid lower sections and some are slotted! You learn something everyday!
  14. "if youre not breaking bits youre not trying hard enough" By the looks of things you are breaking bits! Love youre work!
  15. If insurance does become a problem and a major issue, the BMW driver training they do at Eastern creek, they supply M3's for you to drive around! While our XR's sit in the carpark all nice and insured and in one piece. The BMW course is expensive, but if insurance does become a major concern, we may not have much choice......
  16. I will ask the boys next time I am over. Good thinking 99! Im sure somebody here would have done some sort of driver train day at the Creek or Oran Park, just a matter of waiting for their replys and thoughts. I would also like to hear from Plonky, VG etc, im sure they could recommend some quality driver training courses to us.
  17. I have the mag in front of me now! Its the lastest Wheels mag, January 04, there is a shot of the new DJR Falcon on the cover, with the man himself sitting in the drivers seat. And yes, its blood orange! Quote "Dick Johnson's 320KW GT" "Ford hero builds an HSV assassin" unquote. And on page 66, there is a close up of that sexual chocolate grille. Mmmmmm DJR grille, mick wants one.........
  18. After talking to MISSXR, I am interested in organising a driver training day for the site somewhere is NSW. I have made several enquiries in relation to this, and there seems to be a few ways we can go. I would like some thoughts and critisicsms from fellow members. Has anybody done any sort of defensive driver training? Do they recommend anyone? Is anybody else keen to do a defensive driver training day? Please post your thoughts and ideas here!
  19. This has probably already been spoken about elsewhere, but has anyone seen the DJR mesh lower grille in the new Falcon on the cover of the lastest Wheels/Motor mag? The lower grille is in the blood orange Falcon that DJR are doing now. I really like that grille. Looks fantastic.
  20. Depends what trim Vortech as to what sort of power they make. My J trim Vortech can make 28 psi if you use the correct pulleys, and from memory can flow in excess of 1200 hp. Vortech blowers are good, real good. Most of the HP hero cars used to use them before twin turbo's come in. Paxton make a good blower as well. Havent had any experience with them though. As for Powerdyne....
  21. We have the "body" section in stock at work, I got it in especially for Cro! just kidding big fella! Its got all the reference points for Car-O-Liner alignment jigs for panel beaters, and also shows you how to remove all panels etc.... Still searching for the other juicy ones. We have a full service manual in the workshop, photocopies can be organised if required. PM if you need any!
  22. Yeah! Pauly wears em in Fat Pizza!
  23. My XF "runabout" has 2,238,000 klms on it, and that's genuine. Been around twice. It has had 3 long motors and a few trannies...... And it steers like its got over 2 millions K's on it too!!!

    Wax Warning

I have never polished my car - never had to. Why? I wax nearly every month! After I go for a drive, there are hardly any bugs on it, and the ones that are stuck on get wiped off or hosed off by my Karcher so easily. Waxing is good. I swear by it. Wash and chamois your bus and apply wax in the shade, and make sure your car's metal isnt hot. Meguiars Gold class is the stuff I use. Its expensive, but you get what you pay for. It is hard to get it out of the little crevices, but a butter knife with a rag wrapped around it works the best ive found. Just be careful!
  25. Depends on what sort of rust it is. If it is surface rust, sorry buddy, off to the sprayers you go. If it is "the other rust" ie has bled through where there is paint, that is warrantable. But I seriously doubt any late model car would be at this stage. You see the rust im talking about on the wheel arches, bottom of doors, boot floors etc of "older" cars.
