Ended up being quite unusual, but thankfully easy to fix! It was one of the bolts that holds the exhaust housing of the turbo to the body, its worked its way out and ended up wedged between the oil feed line and the front housing! How lucky was that?! I thought I would be wandering along Gt Northern Highway looking for a bolt less than an inch long. No more noise

To add to my gearbox woes the exhaust now sounds like a truck! I hope its just a case of loose turbo bolts and not something major, and considering performance is the same as usual I suspect it isnt too bad. My poor neighbours will hear about it tomorrow morning though! I reckon we have discovered the lifespan of these cars...

I have ordered the other parts I need so yeah it will have to come out again... at least there is experience now so it should work out easier and less time consuming. I wish I had an auto 6 Allan took me for a drive and....... lets just say its a good thing he has leather seats! Haha jk allan I didnt actually wet myself... but u know what I mean :kissmy:

Yeh there's nothing wrong with the gears they are pretty good... just the synchro which is fairly common under normal power. I have had 5th go in the past, and Kieren's did the second gear too I think

Had an interesting and very long day yesterday. For about a month I have had problems with the gearbox... second gear synchro just wasn't synchronising and hence it crunched into second every time. So I asked Allan his opinion as to whether it's fixable and how hard it is, and he offered his help which is greatly appreciated (what a champ! ) Anyways I asked the parts department at ford for the parts needed to replace the synchros and they gave me 6 synch rings... also got a bottle of Transmax Z. Got around to Allan's place yesterday morning to have a go at it and everything went quite smoothly up to the point of pulling the gears off the shaft... this is what FELL out... which sits inside here... Amazing it still operated fairly normally... unfortunately this caused some wear on the parts within the second synchro set (in the second picture, the inside thrust ring) which doesn't apply enough friction to the gear to synch it to the main drive gears... so new synch rings didn't help my cause. Thankfully Allan had some abstract thoughts and made a replacement part out of the inner race of a bearing. It made the synchro work slightly better but I will still need to replace the worn parts. Its hard to understand how this spacer ring has broken into 4 pieces... there isnt a great deal of heat in the box, and it can't be under much load surely... the best explanation we could come up with was a manufacturing defect?? Thankfully the gearbox went together and back in the car much quicker and easier than it came out... any more nasty surprises and I think we both would have spat it. So I can't thank you enough Allan for your help, I'm very greatful and as other members have experienced you are a top bloke for your efforts to help this community. Cheers mate!

I played it online for the first time yesterday, what can I say... the gameplay is just awesome! Xbox live is a must have for this game. 4-player co-op is very cool too. I should go get 1 and 2 to catch up on the story lol

I got the 12 month Live pack for about 56 bucks from JB on sale... just wait for the next sale Or you could buy it online for about 90 bucks. If your after a game with the console look for the bundle deals, but not the ones with PGR4 and other ghey games... get the HALO3 pack when it comes out, they also had a forza2 console bundle a few weeks back... Oh yeah and if anyone is bored this arvo jump on and msg me for a game, after about 12:30
