  1. Too late to post pics now, being night time and all. I'll have to do it tomorrow after work.
  2. Hey, thanks for the reply, man. Yes, the clear coat is still nice and smooth. The thing is I'm not driving a BA; it's a 2010 FG. And yes, these two discolourations are DEFINITELY new. I inspect my car daily for scratches, chips, etc., so I know what any new ugly mark on my car. (It's in very good condition, so I'm very fussy about any imperfections and hate having any new chip or scratch appearing on the car's body.) I don't understand it. The car is now 19 months old and all of sudden today these two discolourations appear.Do you think later on that more marks such as those will appear on my car? I just find it strange that the marks are both on the driver's side. My neighbour has easy access to the driver's side of my FG...
  3. Hi guys Something weird I noticed today: my ego-coloured (I.e. "black") XR6 has two small-ish stripes on the driver's door. These stripes look "greyish". I tried rubbing it off but it won't come off. The paint has, apparently, changed colour on these two particular spots. It's not really noticable unless looked at closely. I have never heard of a car's paint changing colour. What's happening? My car is left out in the blistering sun for most of the day. Could that be what's causing the discolouration? However, It's odd that both stripes are on the driver's side... Has my neighbour put turps or something like that on my car to cause such a thing? (I live in unit and we share a car port, and my neighbour is suspect.) I would really appreciate some insight into this. I don't want my car to receive any more marks like the two I already have. Thank you.
  4. Yep, it's true: I didn't know that. I never had to tint any windows of my former cars.I just got a quote today: $350 for Octane Formula 1 tinting. It's the darkest tint I can get in my state. I'm having it done on Tuesday, can't come soon enough.
  5. I'm not doing it to be "cool". I need to do it (primarily) for privacy. I am 29 years old.So, to everyone else, if all the windows are darkly tinted (apart from the front windscreen) it would still make it hard to look into the car through the front, since not enough light is let into the car?
  6. Hmmmm, okay. My car is the Ego XR6. Other than tinting, is there anything that can be done legally to the front windscreen to reduce the visibility from the outside (I.e. so people on the outside have trouble seeing the person(s) inside the car)?I have seen many cars driving around that look as though they have their front windscreens heavily tinted, but perhaps it's just an illusion of some sort? Thanks for your help, guys.
  7. I want to bring my XR6 in to have the darkest tint done on all windows. However, I have read that in Western Australia they don't tint windscreens, for it's illegal?! Is this true? Or is it that they can't give the darkest tint to windscreen, but can to all other windows.Whatever the case, wouldn't the car would look stupid if all windows were darkly tinted yet the windscreen remained the same or less tinted? Thanks guys! Edit: For privacy reasons I want my windows tinted so dark that people can't recognise the driver at the wheel during the day. Is such a dark tint legal in WA?
  8. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I'll ask this question. As you all know, the FG XR6 comes with 4 headlights and 2 fog lights. I was just wondering if ALL 4 headlights are meant to illuminate when the headlights are switched on. When the headlights are shining with my XR, only the 2 inner lights shine (but the "park lights" illuminate in the outter 2 headlights). The outter 2 only illuminate when the highbeam is switched on. I thought all 4 headlights are supposed to be on when the lights are switched on, not just when highbeam is on. Is this normal? Are only the 2 inner lights supposed to be on? Thanks for your help. And sorry for this stupid question. (I know nothing about cars.)
  9. It does, but it was wikipedia that made this claim, and they're not always the best source for factual information. However, they claimed that Ford made this claim about the N/A 5-speed Auto. But I've seen guys' clips on Youtube who (allegedly) had a 5-speed N/A and they were posting times of about 6.5 seconds... so I don't know. Anyway, my 5-speed got just over 7 seconds with a full tank, just wondering if others' NAs got closer to the 6 second mark with theirs...
  10. I would love to put on a set of Advanti Red Touring rims... they just look amazing! Unfortunately, they only come as 20". So what are some good-looking rims I can get for my 17" tyres? I want something with a bit of color in it (preferably red spokes). Edit: Title should read "FG XR6..." It's late...
  11. I have a 5-speed 2010 XR6 N/A. According to Wikipedia's page about "Ford Falcon", it claims that the stock 5-speed FG XR6 N/A makes 0-100 in 6.2 seconds. However, my 5-speed FG XR6 N/A does 0-100 in just over 7 seconds. I had no passengers in the car and the boot was empty (but the fuel tank was full). I also had it in "Performance Drive" mode (naturally). The highway I did my 0-100 had no incline or turns; it was completely flat and straight. I feel a bit jipped lol. I see videos on Youtube of guys getting their 5-speed N/A XR6s to do 0-100 in the low-to-mid 6 second range. Do 0-100s vary from car to car of the same transmission, make and model? Obviously not every one of the same cars will post the exact same time, but I posted more than 1 second above Wikipedia's claim, which is a alot, I think. Could it be that the type of tyres and their pressure affects 0-100s to such a degree? (I have the stock 17-inch Goodyear tyres on my XR6.) Also, I am interested to hear from you guys on this forum and your personal 0-100s in your N/A FG XR6 (5- or 6-speed, and only stock). Thanks chaps!
  12. Okay, thanks for the info guys! I have "adjusted" my driving style (I.e. I don't hurt the tranny in sequential manual mode) and now the clunking sound is no more.
  13. Thanks guys Well it's good to hear that the "clunk" from Park to drive and so on is normal and not damaging. But the occasional clunk whilst shifting up or down gears (seems to be from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd all the time) is alarming, judging by what you guys have written. It's under warranty till June 2013 so I'll go to the Ford Customer Services Centre and get them to have a look at it. But I'm guessing they'll take it for a spin and, as luck would have it, it WON'T play up, and they'll write it off as "normal". These guys at Ford's Customer Service Centre often tend to circumvent their obligations in regard to warranty repairs (so I've found from experience, anyway). Anyway, I'll give it shot and see what happens.
  14. Yes, the reports on 5-speed Auto FGs are all pretty bad. If I had known this before buying the car I would have paid the extra $1,000 for the ZF 6-speed Auto. I'm still not understanding why there is an occasional "clunk" when shifting up or down a gear... I'm thinking it could be diff backlash? But I don't really know much about cars, and I have only been reading up on the mechanics of them over the past week.More opinions on my original post are welcome. :-)
  15. Hmmm thanks mate. Yeah I've searched the Net high and low for info on my problem. But I haven't found any real information on whether it is actually damaging my car mechanically in some way. I mean I can put up with the odd clunk here and there when I change gear, but I just don't want it to damage my car's transmission or diff or anything -- that's what worries me.
