  1. No doubt in my mind that the SC V8 sounds better than a turbo XR or F6.Sometimes I'd wish I had the accompanying sound commensurate with my car's acceleration during spirited driving. I remember about a month ago I was having a little tussle with a FPV GT 335,everytime it accelerated I could hear the "I mean business" exhaust sound. When I accelerated,my car sounded like a giant vaccum cleaner from the inside, although I've been told that the F6 sounds good ..............from the outside!
  2. I thought you guys might find this review interesting. http://www.carmagazi...012-CAR-review/
  3. Congrats on the car!......It seems a very neat unit. Make sure you report back on your impressions of the car after you've taken it for a good drive(while it's still stock).
  4. Interesting, but also not entirely surprising about track times. The Megane250 In the BFYB 2011 achieved a lap time (Wakefield) 1.3 secs faster than the FPV GS however the GS had a faster 0-400m,0-1000m,0-100km/h,80-120km/h,1000 v-max,100km/h-0 and the highest speed down the Wakefield straight. The Megane is not as easy to mod as our cars because the availability of physical mods for the Megane is extremely poor, especially in Australia.Only last year a Bluefin re-flash was made available to the Megane. The re-flashes and mods for cars like the VW GTI,Focus(XR5,RS) and ours are far more numerous. Cars like the Megane are more track orientated than any FPV,but I believe that they(Megane) lose out on many other aspects, one could say it's a one" trick pony". P.S I'm a member of Megane.net forums(U.K)and I assure you that eventhough they have improved the quality of the Megane, owners still have their share of problems with the cars. .
  5. I'm upset because my driver's seat squeeks like an old lounge chair! Apart from the faulty wiper motor( which was replaced) I've virtually had no problems with my F6 in the nearly 9 months(7,200klms) of ownership. I 've heard horror stories from people that have owned Audis BMWs,VWs and recently a M Class AMG Mercedes was on the Channel 7(Vic) Today Tonight program. The story revealed how the owner had experienced problems and now the dealership refuses to replace the 6.2L AMG motor! The owner had parked it in front of the dealership advertising his plight. Your car is under warranty don't let the dealership dupe you into believing their fanciful explanations. Any new car can have problems, but it's how one is treated at the dealership that will either leave a bitter or sweet taste in one's mouth.
  6. I should check the VIC section on a more regular basis. You probably see me going through town on way to the Melb. rd BP servo to get petrol;these cars are alcoholics I use the car as my daily driver but don't travel a great amount, the car has done 7,000klms since the 1st Aug 2011. Sorry I'm an old fart what's the "Prinny"?
  7. I don't know the actual figures, but a XR6T wouldn't be far off the 240kw atw ? I would love to to "give it" to this particular person but he is really only an acquaintance however,if he was a good friend of mine ...well, I would go "to town " on him with this info. :laughrolling:
  8. I have a friend,or rather more an acquaintance, who is considering a GTS.I thought I'd look around the net and try to get some info for my own curiosity. To my surprise I found a few dyno runs on stock GTSs that didn't go above 245kw atw.....is that indicative of the current GTSs?Dyno runs of the FG F6 310 have usually shown between 260-270 kw atw. Maybe some of you guys that have more knowledge on dynos and/or GTSs could shed some light but a 240 -245kw atw from a 325kw(Fly wheel) motor seems to me quite low? Below is just one example of a dyno run from a new and totally stock GTS 325.
  9. The F6 MKII should've had it's own wheels not the GT "hand-me-downs"!
  10. Just a short vid on the car. There is no commentary during the vid but the write up on the F6 is quite positive. I still not quite sold on the new wheels they seem to look smaller than the my 2011F6's wheels. The darkened wheels may not suit every colour. http://performancedr...I-review-video/
  11. Below is part of the Ford Newsroom announcement in regard to the extra $103 million dollar invesment announced earlier this year. I believe the changes/enhancements mentioned below seem to point to the FG Mark III.......quite possibly the last Australian designed and engineered Falcon :( "Ford Australia's $103 million investment in the design, engineering and manufacture of Falcon and Territory from 2014 continues our focus on providing vehicles with enhanced environmental performance in every segment in which we compete," Mr Graziano said. "Across our range we are rolling out new smart technologies which improve fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions while remaining affordable for consumers, through the broader application of diesel engines, smarter powershift transmissions, EcoLPI, and global Ford technologies such as EcoBoost. "There's no doubt the large car segment is challenging, but it can remain viable if we continue to provide buyers what they want – fuel efficiency, design excellence, and features that enhance safety and the driving experience." The environmental initiatives are expected to reduce the CO2 footprint of the Falcon by up to a further 5.3 per cent. These initiatives will include: Improved body aerodynamics: A reduction of 7.5 per cent in aero drag through a series of engineering and design enhancements. Advanced low resistance tyres: A rolling resistance reduction of ten per cent through improved tread compound, more advanced hard inner lining and improved tyre technology to provide more even pressure distribution. A new high technology transmission: A new high-technology six-speed transmission will reduce mass and weight as well as provide better acceleration values through significantly reduced reaction times, reduced vibrations and fuel consumption through improved torque conversion, and adaptive shifting which analyses the driver's personal driving style and driving conditions and implements optimal shifting accordingly. Additional new safety, technology and design features will complement the vehicles' existing five star ANCAP rating and deliver customers a world-class vehicle package. Further details of the program's specific features will be announced closer to launch in 2014. Mr Graziano said that continually upgrading and improving the CO2 performance of Ford’s local vehicles was the best approach to improving the vehicles' environmental credentials in the short-to-medium term.
  12. The next upgrade should see some more changes for the transmission and engine(emissions/fuel efficency)to the base Falcon. I don't know whether the base Falcon changes will flow onto the FPV range. For example,Ford are working on making the auto trans. be more adaptive to the driving style of the driver and as well as making the unit's gear change much faster. Will this change flow on to the FPV range?
  13. I think this example of trying to sell an F6 shows that expensive mods on these cars can also compound the money loss on resale. That's why I 'm not too keen on modding my car ........however,each to their own.
  14. A few members of my family bought Repco branded ones and they love them!.They perform very well and no noise. I plan to get a pair very soon.
  15. The GT rims on the F6 unfortunately look like they were done after market. They look ok,but the F6 should have had it's own unique rims.
  16. Not really worth upgrading. If gothca is right about the F6 price range $65,000 ..retail price on the road could be about $68,000,that would be approx $12,000 more than what I paid for my FG F6.My price included leather and tint,so the actual price difference would be closer to $14,000.
  17. Take it to the dealer if you have some free time. The problem could be the wiper motor on it's way out. My wiper motor was replaced after nearly 4 months of ownership. I plan to replace my wiper blades with some that perform better and at least look the part on a hi-performance car. The current ones look sh*t.
  18. The dealer replaced the wiper motor and I've noticed that on the low setting it seems faster. Overall I quite happy with the quality of the car .I haven't noticed any quality issues regarding panel fit or paint work. The interior seems to have been fitted well, probably the only thing that stands out is a very slightly squeeky drivers seat.
  19. Yep...my first "hiccup" with the car.I noticed yesterday(Sunday) that the wipers were struggling to wipe my windscreen. I went to my dealership today to find out about the problem and they said they have to replace the wiper motor! Whoever supplies the wiper motors to Ford needs a good talking to. Just the other day I was singing the praises of the car to friends and now this rather stupid and embarassing fault happens! Anyway,it will be replaced tomorrow.
  20. Maybe it helps but I just cannot give a definitive answer.I fitted a K&N Filter a few weeks ago just incase it does help I probably have noticed a freeing up of revs when accelerating in the higher rev range.
  21. I'm sure my K&N filter won't void my warranty, although there is no guarantee that the dealer will not try to blame it if a problem arises. Unfortunately any physical and/or software modification especially to improve the engine performance, will have the potential to void the warranty. If FPV had the testicular tissue to offer special performance enhancing packages for FPVs WITH Ford Australia warranty back up,I'm sure it would interest 90% of FPV owners. A Ford tuning crowd by the name of Mountune offered hi-po packages for XR5s(STs) in Europe backed up by Ford warranty. When the Focus 500 came out with 245kw,Mountune offered RS Focus owners a package that would equal the performance of the Focus 500. None of these packages were available in Australia................nothing new! .
  22. *UPDATE* *UPDATE* I received a letter today from The Victorian Police stating the fine has been withdrawn and that I have been issued an Official Warning from Vic.Police. Therefore I don't have to pay the penalty and I keep the point the were going to deduct! So guys, if you are unlucky to get snapped by a speed camera, and have a relatively good driving record and admit to speeding in your letter, you just may avoid the fine and receive an Official Warning instead,it's worth a try!
  23. Congratulations! I've owned mine since August this year and it still puts a smile on my face when I drive it! I've decided not to mod mine but owners that have,I'm sure the power gains puts a bigger smile on their faces. I also came from a XR5 re-flashed with a BlueFin stage 2 along with a Pro Alloy IC and hi-flow cat! It's my third RWD car however no matter how good a FWD car is and in the past 5 years or so there have been significant improvements( I've also owned a 2007 Civic Type R), I still prefer driving a RWD car.
  24. Thanks guys, I still might replace the wheel with the spare but now knowing of at least two businesses that seems to be able to do the job to 100%,I'll try and get the rim to one of the shops recommended at a future time. It's ridiculous that nothing like these businesses exist in Geelong!
  25. I recently had my rear left wheel clip a supermarket entrance(more like an entrance for micro cars!) as I was turning into it's car park. I have read some posts going back a few years and learnt that not many businesses can really do a 100% job especially on the polished/lacquered type mags. I was quoted $1,000 for one new rim at the dealership.I also went to a smash repair business that was actually recommended and is used by the dealership. They could improve the rim but would not guarantee a "as new" look. You can see from the picture the damage is not extensive approximately 2cm long.I was resided to the fact I might have to just leave it until my father suggested to take a look at the spare wheel .I told him manufacturers these days tend not to supply a full-sized spare tyre let alone a sports rim identical to the other wheels...luckily I was wrong. I am going to have the gutter rash wheel replaced by the spare rim and swap the tyres so that the damaged rim becomes the spare with the unused tyre. It may seen like a trivial thing but it's funny how it can play with you mind especially if you want to keep the car in top condition.I just have to be careful not to do it again!
