  1. Actually that doesn't really surprise me It's certainly not the first time I've read about the GTR gearbox giving up. World wide BMW's 3.0L turbo has had trouble with the fuel pump malfunctioning and placing the car in limp mode. Some owners have had the pumps replaced more than twice! Also some reported engine failures with the M3 V8. I'm sure you remember the Ferrari Italia 458s catching fire around the world. That was very embarrassing for the iconic sports car maker. Funnily enough I watched a Fifth Gear clip a couple of days ago on the Brabus Mercedes 6 litre twin turbo as you probably know they build rocket ships for the road.Jason Plato was trying to reach 200mph on the Autobahn...the car gave up the ghost and he couldn't continue.A Brabus technical team was dispatched but they couldn't fix the car and it had to be transported back to the Brabus workshop. Yep,problems certainly can arise to the best of them.
  2. I would be absolutely livid if I had a major issue(in such a short time)with an expensive new car like the GT. Wherever you take it let's hope they accuratelydiagnose the problem....maybe you will not need the engine replaced. What will also work in your favour will be that no modifications had been made to the car so Ford /dealership cannot use the "your modifications caused the problem" excuse. Let's hope the dealership can sort it out quickly and painlessly.
  3. I think whatever FPV comes up with as a concept,we can always want more. However these concepts can lead to some good ideas in future models. Not everybody will be happy.Infact if Ford were to follow what Mercedes did in their previous Black models the rear seats would've been removed! It wouldn't affect me in the least if it was only a two seater, but I'm sure others would complain.
  4. You are right with the HSV Black version but if you read the specs for the Ford it does include more: Up front, large brake ducts are incorporated into the modified front facia......................................................................................................... The vehicle sits on 19-inch lightweight one-piece forged alloy rims, finished in black of course, which are 8.0 inches wide at the front and 9.5 inches wide at the rear, and all shod with special Dunlop SP Sportmaxx GT tyres. Underneath there's a track-tuned suspension specification and a full stainless steel high-flow twin exhaust system exhaust finished with quad black exhaust tips. The performance brake package includes larger six-piston brake calipers up front and four-piston brake calipers at the rear, which are both also finished in black. And of course the obligtory stickers, special paint and interior touches.
  5. I don't know..the Expensive Daewoo GTS with the pretty day time running lights and the "throw whatever at the design board and see what sticks"design of the front is just so more menacing than this Black Edition. Yeah.... I'm joking, this concept looks great and quite menacing!
  6. Yep,no matter if it's a GS or F6,that's what it's all about I cannot give a definitive answer but I probably would've been just as happy with a GS. The main reasons why I chose the F6 over the GS are :The F6 is Ford's top of the line turbo. The special price reduction of nearly $10,000(from the f6's previous price). I'm not too fond of the V8's raised hood. The F6 is already intercooled. The SC V8 may not generate as much heat as a turbo however the ECU may diminish the power of the V8 if it is given a few "squirts"in a row of the "loud" pedal, especially in hot weather. The F6 can simply have a better/larger intercooler easily fitted. Neither cars are track demons but the F6 may have a small advantage in the handling department because of less front weight. The F6's standard brakes could be said to be slightly better. The "sound track" of the GS is more enjoyable than that of a F6 but these days a quick aceleration with the loud noise accompaniment may attract a cop's attention. One other reason that doesn't quite make sense to me is that I love the way a turbo works on an engine.Seems to me that turbos are being used more and more on top line sports cars such as Porsche,McLaren, even the mighty Bugatti and the upcoming Shelby GT500 Mustang. Turbos seem to be more the way of the future in high performance cars.
  7. It looks like an early August delivery at the latest. There are far more autos on dealership lots than manuals. The dealership does have the auto F6 that I test drove with leather, but it also comes with the rear view camera,an option that I don't need or want to pay. So the waiting begins, meanwhile I need to decide in what colour I should order my custom rego. plates. Black background, white letters or white background, black letters.
  8. Thanks, remember I was able to receive a Ford employee discount. However when it comes to a FPV,the discount I believe is less than eg a XR6T. I would say the auto is faster and very smooth. I also was looking at a GS but I had to weigh-up a few matters.Because of the special price for the no options F6 ($59,990 on the road)it really caught my attention. The GS looks like an "ordinary" XR8(not saying it's bad),no Brembos or Brembo option.I'm also not too fond with side view of the raised hood. No intercooler,so most likely in warm-hot weather the ECU will wind down the power.I think in the handling stakes the F6 may have a slight edge because of approx:70 kgs less weight. But mods to a GS can achieve great results and of course the sound of that SC V8 is something the F6 cannot match. The particular GS(auto example) I was interested in was black with gold stripes it had leather, color screen around $58,000(without discount)on the road.
  9. After I get over the initial shock of parting with a substantial amount of money(it's taken a big chunk out of my savings) I'll probably start of with a tune and some exhaust changes whether it be a cat back, just a hi-flow cat or rear muffler...I don't know. I do want to change the rear muffler to a twin exhaust outlet,I know it's only cosmetic but I just don't like the standard one. Any recommendations for the exhaust?
  10. I ordered a manual.I still get that uneasy feeling that I'm not in total control of the car when I drive an auto. I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact I've never owned an automatic.
  11. In the showroom there was a black auto GS with leather and colour screen for just under $58,000.drive away. With the Ford discount I probably would've been looking at approx. $53,000 drive away? I believe the GS is a very good value hi -performance car.Had I chosen the GS,I probably would've then regretted don't being able to stretch it out to a GT 335
  12. I made a mistake with the price in my first post,I actually got it for $56,020 drive away.
  13. Hi After much negotiating I finally ordered a brand new F6 today.I took an auto for a test drive and I loved it! I wasn't surprised with the power/torque....I knew it would blow me away however,I was surprised with the ride comfort.I realize it's not a track demon like an EVO X but I didn't buy it for track work. So in summary: Car Ordered: 2011 FG F6 Colour: Winter White Transmission: Manual Options: Leather and tinted windows. Total price including on the roads: $56,639
  14. Thanks guys, the FG2 will have interior and driveline changes but I don't know any specifics, although I have a feeling the interior will be more than a minor change.
  15. Hi I've been lurking for quite a while and recently been thinking about a new F6.At the moment FPV/Ford are having a special price of $59,995 driveaway.I would prefer a manual, but was wondering if any current owners have an opinion on the manual gear shift eg are the shifts smooth and can the gears be easily slotted in when shifting quickly....etc? The auto doesn't have paddle shifters..? I was quoted a price of $53,833(no options)on the road for a brand new F6( I am able to get a Ford discount). I drive a XR5(reflashed) so if I end up buying one I'm sure it is going to be quite a difference. I assume it has reasonable handling? My local dealer has an auto F6 in stock so if I'm able to get a test drive I will also need to see whether the F6 can be driven in and out my garage without taking the wooden pole that holds up the verandah with me Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.
