  1. They're ok because they're not black but..they're just ok. I prefer my stock silver ones to grey ones but then, I don't want them either. I find it particularly annoying that alot of these jap wheel makers do wheels in practically every colour but silver! Then have the audacity to say; "Oh if you want a custom colour $$$" Wtf!? Then they have "Hyper black" which is silver!? does that mean "Hyper silver" is black!? f*ckin looneys! http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a73/XR9UTE/GS%20ute/IMG_1055_zpsb26e11c6.jpg
  2. I think it looks heaps worse. Any wheel with a black rim and highlighted spokes looks rotten I reckon. Of course I don't like black wheels full stop...to me it's like buying dirty wheels:)
  3. So what brand is that?
  4. What brand are they?
  5. And the problem there is; if you machine the back off with the bolt holes already drilled there may be too little meat left for the nuts to bite into. That's why they should be machined first, then the bolt hole depth machining done to suit.

Ok I finally got around to tuning the ute. It's done just over 5000k's now so I figured that was enough running in. We started with a coupla baseline runs with the car completely stock an it achieved 284kw which seems about right for these. Then we flashed a generic recal into it and ran it again for an amazing 367.6kw!? Next up we changed to a smaller pulley and put a K&N filter on at the same time. which bumped it up to 388kw. What isn't often talked about is the huge torque increase achieved and how linear it is. This is truely the easiest and cheapest performance increase you can get! I think a good description would be that it feels like the car just lost half or more of it's weight. Driving it, first gear is a waste of time so I tend to just get it moving and change into 2nd and feed it to it progressively. Nailing into to 2nd just means bye bye tyres. As it is, you feed it progressively and it lights up again at about 3 grand. into 3rd and it's ballistic! Here's a vid of the last run. All you really hear is the blower whine because the stock exhaust is so quiet.
  7. The reason no-one agrees from tyre shops is because it really is suck it and see. Variations in vehicles means some cars will be ok and others won't. Mine was ok with shims and it's 67mm lower than a stock GS ute.
  8. Yep and a camber kit consists of shims and new upper pivots with longer bolts. Malaga Springs and Suspension did mine...it's superb!
  9. No they'll only fit if you take the blower off:)
  10. Take your car to a suspension shop who already have the shims and get them to do the job. They know what's needed and will do the alignment at the same time.
  11. It's a case of suck it and see I'm afraid. My GS ute is pretty damn low and we got away with it. Otherwise you'll need the longer bolts welded into the upper arm pivots that fr33r was talking about.
  12. They're only the shims.... you may run out of bolt length when using them.
  13. wow 30 years as a dumbcunt!?!
  14. So if you left em at +18 with no spacers you'd have no trouble with clearance on the rear when dumped? Interesting thanks evo.

Bit of an update with mine Lads... We discovered that we were still getting axle hop with the new suspension setup. So Bilstein came up with a specially valved shock at no charge...Much better! Can't be happier with the service of Malaga Springs & Suspension...Top Notch! Now you can hit 2nd at speed and it'll be lit for 100 or so metres and drive straight doing it, without hopping all over the shop:) Took the ute back for it's 3k check at Lane Ford (where I bought it) and got them to fix an intermittant noise problem it had when dead cold. It was like a scraping sound in the flywheel area. They discovered a fault with the clutch bearing and replaced it...Fixed! Now it's noticeably better to take off in. On the exhaust front I've been tempted to try unbolting the rear tailpipe but I really wanted to have another straight set of pipes to put on there first otherwise the pork might start bothering me. My mate got pinged by an asshole cop(asshole because he was doing 40 in a school zone and you couldn't hear it!? I think the *beep* couldn't handle it that he couldn't do him for speeding!) for his Manta system on his Mk1 so he took the opportunity to get rid of the "308 thong slapper" sound and replaced the front section which has hot dog style mufflers to use Manta' dual in/out muffler. It's a bit quieter and now because the pipes effectively merge in the muffler it sounds 100 times better! Haven't got any wheels yet because every time I think I've found something I like it's either not available in 19", not available wide enough or not available with a big enough dish!? besides that I can't afford it:) Look at those rear guards just waiting to be filled with big boots!

  18. Well technically they are a little on the small side but some people like that size on that width. 255 is approx 10" so in theory it shouldn't be too stretched on a 10.5" rim.
  19. That's because 275's would take out his guards with that much poke.
  20. They stick out that far on the front and you're very happy with the outcome!? How long before the front offset wrecks your guards? I like the look of them but if they were matt black you'd barely see what they look like. I think you should leave em the colour they are.
  21. I assume you mean "%" when you say "mm" for the profile? Are you not going to use at least a 9.5" for the rear?
  22. They look good Dom, All the same colour makes em look better too I think.
  23. Of course there's very little difference if you include the tyre because generally you want the same rolling diameter. The pic of the two different wheels are noticebly different I reckon and especially so if you show the whole car. Use a wheel with a big dish and therefore a smaller centre and it looks smaller still. I agree though vxr50t, I would rather actually use an 18 or even a 17 on my GS because, quite simply the performance is better with them. I also prefer a bit more sidewall too but, as I'm likely to use a wheel with a substantial dish I don't think I can use anything less than 19" that won't look too small.
  24. Unfortunately that's the problem with modern car design dictated by f*ckwits who think everything has to be small to be economical and "green". So, a large car like a Falcon keeeps getting it's wheel arches made bigger so the whole car looks smaller. This means on an FG, certains designs in 18"(ones without long spokes that go all the way to the tyre) will look too small. B-series could get away with18's but generally speaking, an FG needs 19's as a minimum.
  25. Be good if they didn't step the rim like that fletty. That also doesn't help the appearance of diameter. Are those tyres fitted/pumped up? they look ridiculous!
