I think too if I got the poo poo treatment she'd be definitely goorne. I'm too old for that sh*t. I've moved my original parts on other than the induction setup, so would be sold as is. Don't let this get you down about your cars guys. Like I said, I've had the XR for near five years now and I like to turn them over if possible. Nothing against the car - I just get bored. Being completely honest, the car is probably more suited to a younger person now with the turbo side etc. I probably went a little far with that side of things and the car has lost some refinement as a result. Don't get me wrong, the GTX sounds killer but sometimes I like to act my age, lol. I'm also car shopping for the oldies at the moment and been sitting in some nice euro stuff like SQ5 Audis and VW Touaregs so that sh*t isn't helping. I get back in the povo taxi and it's depressing haha.

I'd need to find something, or a combination of cars that really interests me before I'd seriously consider moving on. I did look at a very tidy low klm FG super pursuit yesterday, but that boat anchor engine just doesn't appeal and it was too expensive for a toy hauler. A friend has a mint AU XR8 ute and is buying a new XR8 sedan. If I could get that for around 10k that gives me some play money to have something else as well. I'm just tossing a few things around guys. I still love the XR. It has everything on it pretty much I wanted and still has under 60k's on it. No anti Ford sentiment from me it's just more about am I getting the best out of the value I've invested and have tied up.

I've had heaps of fun with this car. It's an awesome drive. But, unless I take it to the track you never really get to unleash it. Queensland laws are ridiculously tough now also so many are just moving away from quick/modified street cars. My Son is getting closer to driving age so I like the idea of actually building something cool again with him. That, or buy a cheapie track car together with a tow hack ute and actually have something that I can wring its neck and if it breaks it just get parked until I can fix it. I'm going to rip up plenty given I bought it new. It would be sold as a package with the matching trailer so might come out of it ok. I would only part with them if the numbers stacked up to do something else of interest. It's coming on five years which is a fair run for me. I'll have a bit of a look around and see how I go.

    I'm getting itchy feet.
  8. Fair call Mick. The last thing anyone wants to do is create panic. If they weren't so damn expensive to fix you'd probably just roll the dice. Unfortunately, they aren't. The piece of mine you get running the PWR unit is worth the purchase price on its own imo.
  9. ^^^ and yes Stever I know of one that failed on an F6 with 8,000klm on the clock. Luckily, was under warranty of course and the car was completely stock so no outs for Ford.
  10. Wasn't meaning to be rude mate. The only reason I said it was that it comes up often. There is this misconception that provided you do frequent coolant changes and maybe swap it out every year, you'll be fine. They rarely fail from corrosion. Orange dot, yellow dot or whatever, they're all sh*t. Given the consequences of failure, it's just a too bigger gamble imo.
  11. ^^^ you do know maintenance has nothing to do with them failing?
  12. Herrod E85 intank spec in mine. No issues feeding my ID1000's and little GTX.
  13. So will Elite pay for the tranny rebuild from milkshake if you followed that advice? This from a supposedly reputable workshop. Ignorant at best - trying to fleece at worst. The supplied hoses are more than adequate mate but go braided if you want. Bottom line though, get rid of the factory hand grenade.
  14. Oh dear, lol.

  16. For the OP it gets down to: Power goal. Does he want headroom. Does he want to push the limits of other components. How much does he want to spend. Get all that right and you can't go too far wrong imo.
  17. I do think the PT6235 is a good each way bet though. I did consider it but reliability stories still dog precision and at $500 more I felt the little GTX was a better option for me.
  18. As most that follow my thread know I had the MTA750 and frankly hated it. Yes I had some other issues that probably didn't help it, but the car just felt 'lethargic' compared to the original GT3576. Of course the 750 made more power and pulled harder up top, but point to point the car lost its zip. The little GTX cured all that. I'm actually making a little more peak power than the 750 did and 100Nm more torque, all of which comes on roughly 1000rpm earlier at near identical boost. The GTX3582R was the 'must have' 12 months ago. Now you hardly hear anyone talk about them unless its someone actually pulling it off to fit one of the latest offerings from Precision or Borg Warner. What's the common theme? Quicker spool - more responsiveness. Unless a dyno queen, most aren't interested in +400. The average taxi won't hook up at that power anyway and you'll start breaking things. As has been said many times, this is a very good 'street' turbo. No you won't win a dyno comp with it.
  19. Went to munchies last Friday. Was good.
  20. Bizarre. At a Paul Morris promo at United Arundel on the Goldie, I spoke to their state manager (I think that's what he said he was) and told him how displeased many were for losing P100. His response was the Ethanol fuel didn't really sell in their lower grade fuels. I thought P100 would have been a good seller though. I'll have to see if this stuff comes on tap at my local.
  21. I'm thinking a lot - certainly me, are so damn disappointed in FGX. Maybe not the XR8 as much. Even my dealership manager mate doesn't think they'll move many turbos. I tried really hard to like it but just can't. A good second hand FG turbo can be had pretty cheaply. You also won't have the insurance hit by not wearing an FPV badge. If you could get a good one, the 50 anniversary models were nicely featured.
  22. Ballpark 10k in mods on the basic taxi. Wouldn't buy an FGX personally. If you're a Ford person then maybe look for a nice B series Rspec or F6. If not that brand loyal I wouldn't even bother with a Falcon tbh.
  23. Popcorn anyone?
  24. You would have to stand out the front of the dealership wearing a defamatory sandwich board before they would replace a box 'willingly' after a milkshake failure post warranty. That includes if you swapped the exchanger regularly also. There's a strategy large organisations and governments use called the 3D's. Deny, Deflect, Delay. Being in Local Govt. myself, they have strategists that work out things like how long people will stay on hold before hanging up. Why? Because it weeds out whingers or those that throw their hands up and walk away. I've seen charts on the ratios of this kinda stuff. The idea being, you only concentrate on the remaining percentage that are prepared to go the whole nine yards. It's just the chit new world of 'pretend' customer service from downsizing/outsourcing. So in the case of a failed exchanger out of warranty first you will get a bit of 'Deny' mainly 'Deflect' (you haven't done proper maintenance tuned the car etc) then finally if still hanging around, they'll 'Delay' like you won't believe knowing you need the car back quickly. Only those that stand the line and perhaps threaten legal action will they then maybe do something. Again, it's the modern way people. It's all about the money.
  25. Been watching the Married with Children series I got for Christmas and just bought the 'No Ma'am' shirt'. Has it's own facey page baha.
