  1. Yep, I remember seeing that plate on it. Couldn't find it on ebay last night though so maybe sold - don't know.
  2. Mate they're out there and even found one on ebay the other day which had PIT LANE PERFORMANCE written all over it and had a lot of good stuff on it - mainly Nizpro. It would have had a flogging (most have) but had a fresh-ish engine and was making 360rwkw - built for 400rwkw. It was around the money you're talking about. It was orange I think. I'm sure Mick at Pit Lane would know the car. Good luck - don't rush it.
  3. Just bought a twin pack from the states on ebay - 24" version and a smaller one for the dash, etc. $44 delivered. Thanks for the tip as I'm sick of washing micro cloths. Now one a detailer taught me. Compressed air is unreal on carpets and seats especially in hard to get places (like between the seats and console). I open all the doors, hit everything including dash steering wheel etc, then vaccuum. It's incredible how much dust comes off the seats and I don't drive mine everyday. Cheers, Bomber.
  4. Mate, it might pay to give the ACCC a call or check their site. I've attached a link. If nothing else, an email back to the dealer advising that you are having the matter investigated by the ACCC might get them moving. Also, this will cost nothing in the first instance, unlike getting a solicitor involved straight up. Since when is there no balance of 'new car' warranty from the dealer? What a f**king joke! Right there is where I'd be focusing my attention because they can't win that one. I'd write to the dealer and give them a reasonable time line to respond - say two weeks. Include in it that failure to respond will result in the vehicle being repaired by an 'alternate' and all associated costs with the repair/s will be forwarded to the dealer for reimbursement within (7) business days. Good luck. My link
  5. Tell me about it. My Ego FG drives me nuts to keep clean! I had several white cars before this one and basically got sick of the colour. However, now I remember why I liked it! I'm a detail freak - armoralled the inner guards this morning (tragic I know). However, have tried every polish known to man and without a doubt, the best finisher is 3M imperial hand glaze. This stuff brings up everything, even tail light lenses and alloys. I often get asked what I use when people see the car. It's commercial grade so can't get it everywhere. I get mine from a auto paint supplier in a 1 litre bottle for around $35 trade. You don't use much and it comes off easily. Then use the micro cloth (with dried polish on it) to go over the alloys, lenses, etc. Anyway, love the car mate. Cheers, Bomber.
  6. The BF (even in R spec) came in last when I bought. Would have got the VE SS over it. It felt even older than it looked by comparison to both the Late model camira and FG and the one I looked at had done under 25k, was a one owner, and immaculate. I don't think there would be too many that if being honest, would hang onto their BF's if they could upgrade to an FG - in anything (ute, sedan, FPV). And the brake issue on FGs is just BS. Just fit upgraded pads and slotted rotors! You can do the whole car for around a grand with EBC Reds and Gold series DBAs which unless you're doing track work, is more than adequate. Yes you can throw 10k at a typhoon and it will make more power, but it will still look and drive like a 10yo car - it's that simple.
  7. Yes that combo fits provided you have the OEM airbox - not the V8 version. Mick has confirmed this with me. He is of the opinion that the herrod kit will bolt up after some 'tweaking'. I'm looking to PWR to overcome this. I'll pay the extra for the PWR pipe kit if it bolts up with no 'tweaking'. You must be running the original airbox. Did you have the cooler polished or is that the way it comes? The whole package is really good and I think that's the way I'll be going. cheers, Bomber.
  8. Spot on. A lot seem hung up on power figures but forget driveability. An FG gets to a point that with stock rubber, you're wasting your time on the street. Mine has only 270rwkw and I've rotated rubber twice - at 6000km! And that's traction control on with a 43yo old fart driving it. If you want a dyno mule then buy the BF. If you want a car that that drives nice and doesn't feel 10yo by comparison, buy the FG.
  9. Nailed it!!
  10. Yep and even some of the big horsepower jobs still do. Just looking at a mag with one of CV performance's FG F6's in it and it's making 530rwhp with the OEM airbox. I was on the fence about changing it, but the V8 box does perk it up down low with better throttle response. For someone that doesn't want to risk the warranty and retain the factory look, I think it's a good option. Cheers, Bomber.
  11. Whilst I agree with sticking it to the dealer, none of these dicks would now how to fix a tuned car properly. And again, they know they can out wait you.
  12. 1200 - 1500 bucks for a custom dyno tune supplied with a SCT Flash tuner unit. Depending on the tuner and car, you will pick up 30 - 40rwkw with no loss of economy. That's the good bit. The bad bit is your mechanical warranty is pretty much cooked. It was a choice I thought long and hard about but ultimately given my car is not an everyday driver, I tuned it. Ford's customer service is also that sh*t that after researching the strong and weak points of the car, I wasn't too worried. Another option is to do the FG V8 lower airbox and snorkle conversion with a K&N filter. Both of which you can buy of ebay and the whole deal will set you back under $300 bucks. This will give you around a 10rwkw gain (with the standard tune) and improved throttle response. I did this arse about (tune first) and needed to go back to check mixtures again - dumb. The advantage with just this mod is that you won't screw the warranty. A lot of us, myself included, have combined this with a tune but you don't need to. If she's a newby (under 3000ks) I'd start with this as most tuners won't want to touch your car until after the first service. There a several reasons for that, namely Ford may plug in the diagnostics and then 'flag' that your car has been tuned - warranty gone. Secondly, my tuner wanted it freed up a bit before the dyno and if it was going to have any major issues, they would have presented by then. Hope this helps. Cheers, Bomber.
  13. Welcome to the sh*t world of Ford customer care. I also crossed from the 'dark side' as much as Expensive Daewoo pissed me off on occasions, you could normally shake the tree a bit more and things would happen - but not with this mob. Mate, legal action will just cost you money so unless you've got a family member that will do it for nothing, they know they can out wait you and it doesn't fix the car. As you say, it's been flashed so pretty much warranty gooorne. Like most advice here, I'd be getting the thing retuned to fix your problems and enjoy the car. That, or sell it. Hope it works out ok. Cheers, Bomber.
  14. I was in a similar position this year except throw in a VE SS so I had three to choose from. A really nice low km R spec was for sale locally but to be honest, even in FPV spec, it looked and felt 10 years old compared to the FG. I preferred the look of the VE over both (and still do) and am traditionally more aligned with Holden (still have nightmares about AU Falcons - as do most at Ford). In saying that, after stepping straight out of a spanker VE SS with its tractor gearbox and into an FG XR6T auto, it was a no brainer. So yes, I was converted. I love my FG and now tuned, it will pretty much hose anything Expensive Daewoo and HSV will throw at it and for under 45k, ya gotta love that! I absolutely agree with you on the FG F6. If I had extra coin, that's what I'd be buying. Cheers, Bomber.
  15. Thanks for that. I live on the Gold Coast so will go and see them at the factory. I don't want to cut my car so this is the only real option. I'm not chasing big power either and this cooler is rated to 450kw. The factory turbo will run out of puff way before then. It's really just the heat thing for me being in Qld. As anyone that owns one of these things knows, it's like a different car with the cool night air. I just want that more often! Cheers, Bomber.
  16. Mate, probably silly question, but did you not remove the bar to fit the cooler? Also, I'm running the V8 lower air box so trying to confirm that the stepped cooler and PWR's pipe kit will clear underneath the snork/box connection (cold side pipe) as she's a tight fit. I know some have run into trouble here with other cooler/pipe combos.
