The best tyres you will be able to get for your 17's go the Pilot Preceda 2's. If you want better, upgrade to 18's and get the PS2's as senna mentioned above.
  2. I'd hate to mention it, but a big fella like you (and me for that matter) just couldn't live with a 3 series, c class or a4 based model. Especially when you need to throw two baby/toddler seats in the back and fit the prams in the boot. Part of the reason why I went with the Passat R36 was the above (bigger boot than the Falcon too), the other half was that it has more options than an equivilent Audi/BMW/Merc at less than half the price. For the equivilent Audi/BMW/Merc I'd be looking at 200k+ on road for a fully optioned S6/M5/E63 which would have exactly the same equipment levels as my sub 80k R36. Keeping in mind that VW owns Audi, and a lot of the components (mechanical and interior) are shared between the two. Some of the equipment levels I'm talking about are dynamic cornering bi-xenon lights, 16 way adjustable electric seats with memory, heated seats, dual zone cc, sat nav, premiere audio system, ipod connectivity, performance brakes & suspension etc.. stuff that are all big dollar options on the Audi/BMW/Merc cars. Take one for a test drive and see how you go
  3. Someone who lives next to Camden airport reckons they saw stig with no helmet... Neal Bates is the man, if the rumor is true...
  4. Hi Everyone, The full cruise details are here: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=49742 This cruise is easily accessible to all QLD Members by driving down to Sydney on the Friday and joining up with the Sydney members on Saturday. I know two members from SE QLD are already keen on this cruise, so it would be great to get some more

  8. I've never had an issue with the police or insurance companies regarding the tint, not when I hit a roo and fox at night, not when the truck side swiped me, and not all the times I've been pulled over for RBT's, speeding, etc...
  9. Might as well cancell this one...
  10. If cost isn't a problem, definitely go with the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's there just isn't a road tyre (non-semi slick) that can compete. You will find your limits as a driver before you find the cornering limits of the PS2's. That is in both wet and dry conditions. They are standard on all Porsche 911's, Koniegsegg's, McLarens, Bugatti, BMW M's, Audi RS's and the list goes on. The only issue is that with an impressive OEM list like that they do cost a bit... Ring around a few dealers to get the best price as they vary greatly each month. Some days Bob Jane may charge $100 a corner less than Jaxx, and the next month Jaxx will be a $100 cheaper. They should be around $620 for 18's.
  11. A lot of softies out there....
  12. GRRR Why do I have to work... Nice pics
  13. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...709-662,00.html That is fantastic news, definitely a big reason to buy a Ford Falcon over any of the other local manufacturers products
  14. revheadrobbo specialises in the night cruises When I say overnight, I mean a 2 day cruise with accommodation overnight
  15. This Cruise applies to all NSW members of this forum. This cruise is easily accessable from Sydney, Newcastle & Northern NSW. I have not made this an overnight cruise, as I'd like to wait for daylight savings to come around for even more fun Where?Mid North NSW When? Shell Shell VPower is available at: *Sydney *Berowra *Newcastle *Buladelah *Taree *Wauchope BP BP Ultimate is available at: *Sydney *Beresfield *Port Macquarie Bypass CALTEX Caltex Vortex 98 available at: *Sydney *Berowra *Bulahdelah *Walcha UHF CB & Mobile Phones In some area's of this cruise there are a lot of tight roads, with many turns. It would make life easier for everyone if you were in possession of a UHF CB Radio. That way everyone can stay in contact, the leader can relay information about cars, road hazzards and directions... Cheap CB's which will allow you to hear updates from the leader are available from any electronics store (I.e. Dick Smith) for under $40 each. Decent CB's which will enable you to communicate at least 2km's in either direction are available for around $160. If you need help with getting a CB, advice on which CB to get and which one not to get, etc.. Send me a PM WARNINGS The roads we are going on are very tight, windy and "The Buckets Way & Thunderbolts Way" is very bumpy. There are hazzards such as potholes, rocks, branches, etc.. lying on the road (why we ask you to have a CB) This is a very long cruise, covering 900km's. We will be out for at least 12 hours including morning tea, lunch and regroup points. The only 98RON in Walcha is at a Caltex Service Station, you will need to at least top up here to make it the next Shell (Wauchope) or BP (Port Macquarie Bypass). You have to consider all these circumstances before you decide if this cruise is for you. So who's in? Cro Lord Cyric Soft (maybe) list ardi Butto
  16. I'd like to do an overnight cruise up north incorporating way more roads than the ones above, but am waiting for day light savings to kick in :ifiusethisimafag: For the time being, this will be just a very long teaser Russ, It would be great for the Newy boys to join onto this cruise
  17. FFS....cant you take a bit of sarcasm.... Or do I need to make the poking tounge a bit more obvious.
  18. You don't need to bring her with you...
  19. Whats the point, you'll just pull out the day before anyway
  20. Going up North for the next one. Here is a bit of a preview http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&hl=....767578&z=7
  21. I think we peaked at 9 cars, but just 5 saw out the whole day Not one of which could keep up
  22. If you want the best (no comprimises), and are willing to pay for it get the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's @ about $600 a corner. There is absolutely no difference wet to dry, and I have no hesitation pushing them beyond belief in any conditions Failing that, the Michelin Pilot Preceda 2's are a bit cheaper and provide top notch wet/dry performance. Much better than any dunlop, pirelli (non semi slick) and Yokohama.
  23. Thanks to all that showed for a great days worth of cruising. Good to see a few of the old regulars and some new faces I think we may have a replacement for Ken in the making with Turboboy enjoying this new found technology called a CB Thanks for keeping up the rear too There were some great roads travelled in all sorts of weather conditions from sunny, to pouring rain to ice and snow on top of the Clyde Mountain. This was a great run, and I look forward to organising the next one I took a few pics: http://doncro.dyndns.org/pics/events/group...%20July%202008/
  24. Looks like no one from the ACT will be joining us, so we'll get rid of the middle meeting point. Will make the boring hwy drive a bit shorter
