  1. it was new when I bought it about 5 years ago, but no longer sold in petrol form. V6, and something a little more family friendly than a Supra.
  2. Wow yes it has been a long time, maybe 15 years? @genebabyreached out to say hello, and it came to my email. Till then I forgot all about this place. So many memories (or lack thereof), especially on these snowy cruises. what goes on here these days? I’ve got a petrol powered Turbo 6, thou in a different make
  3. . (Clearly I've forgotten how to use this forum) Wow, I'm impressed that this forum is still going, as is my favourite cruise of the year. Nice work @EvilDaifufor keeping this signature event alive
  4. Happy Birthday Cro!

    Movember 2009

It's Movember time of year again, and it is supporting a cause very close to most of the people here being a majority male member base. I am doing this to help raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men. What many people do not realise is that close to 3,000 men die of prostate cancer each year in Australia and one in eight men will experience depression in their lifetime, many of whom don't seek help. No doubt all the male members here will at some stage in their life have to get their prostate checked, and lets hope that none of us end up with cancer. Better to support the cause by raising funds and awareness so a vaccine or other treatment method can be realised before it is your time. Most of us have also been subjected to depression, whether it was when we were beaten by a Expensive Daewoo or a bit more serious than that. To support my Mo please donate to these worthy causes, click the Mo and follow the prompts Movember Australia - Home
  6. I have....no one signed up
  7. Hi guys I wasn't planning on organizing a snowy run this year, hopefully someone else will put their hand up. More than happy to help with past details maps and stuff. I'm into the longer drives these days, no less than 1000km a day over 3 days sort of drives
  8. Any Bob Jane, Jaxx Quickfit or Tyrepower will stock the PP2's... Call one of each store, as one of them usually has a special on. They provide more mechanical grip than your RE050's, and all the other tyres mentioned here bar the PS2's. The PS2's are like the king of tyres, but for 18's you won't find them under $700 a corner unless you import them from tirerack. Cost me $525 a corner from Tirerack back when the Aussie dollar was worth 82US cents.
  9. Certain words wake me from hibernation Track day Snowies Michelin
  10. Not sure about where the light is in the FG, however in the BA/BF it was in the parcel tray and Bob takes it out before tinting.
  11. I'd love to go especially being my birthday, but a saturday track day will be like peak hour on Parramatta road...
  12. My car came standard with them, fantastic feature
  13. You won't find a better gripping road tyre than a Michelin Pilot Sport 2. Problem is for a 20" rim you'll be looking at over 1k a corner...
  14. Personally, I wouldn't take the car if it didn't have DSG. It just isn't that exciting to drive or fast in manual form, and it will affect your resale value. There isn't a transmission that can beat the DSG for performance and practicality.
  15. I'd take it your dealing with McGraths in Sutherland? Shoddy bunch of salesman, I dealt with McGraths in Liverpool and will never again buy a car from them for very similar reasons. If I were you I'd cancel the deal, and go straight to either Mascot, Fivedock, Chatswood or Penrith. They all seem to take care of their customers from what I'm reading on the VW forums
  16. I can't help much there... I've never had a blow out from any tyre. I have however bucked two rims running Dunlop SP3000's (back wheels), whilst the rims running Michelin PP1's (front wheels, previous generation pilot preceda) were fine. This was on Nerriga road between Braidwood and Nowra, was the roughest gravel/dirt road I've ever driven on.
  17. I'm planning an overnighter of a similar cruise in February. Cause it's an overnighter we can go further north, and enjoy even better roads without the 10 hours of driving each day.
  18. I bought the Goodyears because Michelin was out of stock of the PS2's, and based my purchase purely on the tirerack and evo magazines review of the GY's. The thing I have come to realise about these reviews is that they were performed on tracks, road surfaces are completely different and therefore the tyres perform differently. I've been through the snowies (along the same roads) in exactly the same conditions (heavy rain) three times in the last 5 months, first and second time with the PS2's and now recently with the GY's. I have become used to taking corners at specific speeds when I had the PS2's, corners I remember vividly (especially on the Elliot way). I couldn't achieve those speeds with the GY's, trying to would bring on understeer (not to mention a hell of a lot of tyre squeal) without ESP/TC and an undrivable car with ESP/TC turned on. The steering characteristics also changed, with the GY's affecting the precision. With the PS2's I was consistenly able to point and shoot, push the car further and further, without setting ESP/TC off every corner. The GY's fall down massively in comfort too. After the car is parked for a few hours the tyres develop flat spots that take about 5 or so km's to dissapear, it results in a ride similar to having a very shoddy wheel balance. At hwy speeds the tyres are noisy, they just don't roll as smoothly as the Michelin Pilot's (preceda2 and sport2). The Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric are definitely not in the same class as the Michelin Pilot Sport 2, so naturally the next best competitor is the Michelin Pilot Preceda 2. They both have similar performance characteristics, however the PP2's are quiet, smooth, offer precise steering and are cheaper. Contrary to what people thing I absolutely hate Michelin, they charge through the roof for the top level tyre (PS2), and I have been let down time and time again by their pathetic stock controllers. Unfortunately they also make the best product, and at the end of the day that is all I care about.
  19. About 30,000kms including a track day. I know of other members getting 40,000km+ As most tyres they are never as good at the end of their life than at the beginning, but they will still be better than the alternatvies.
  20. 240 Treadwear, AA Traction Tabitha is referring to me spending $600 per corner for 18" PS2's (Pilot Sport 2), not 17" PP2's (Pilor Preceda 2). The PS2 is the pinacle of road tyres, however they are not available in 235/45/17.
  21. I wish I was a Michelin rep, I could have saved myself a lot of money... I could have saved more by staying true to Michelin and not wasting my money trying other brands cause I always end up dissapointed. I'm now running some Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics, and can't believe I wasted my money on these elastic bands. A good tyre no doubt, but no where near as good as the PS2's I had previously nor the PP2's I ran on the Falcon. :(
  22. PP2's cost just $230 per corner And they will outstrip all other tyres available in 235/45/17 for performance, including the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics.
  23. Don't waste your money with Pirelli Dragons, I run them on my wifes 1.6L auto Mazda Astina. I can get the front wheels to spin in the dry with some effort and no effort required in the wet. PP2's seem to be the best performer for a 235/45/17
  24. that's ok mate, just remember you need to donate to our team to put crap on us. I'll be deleting any posts from non donating individuals
  25. Hi Everyone, I think the cause that Movember is raising funds for would strike a chord with our predominately male member base. If you didn't know Movember raises money each year for Prostate Cancer Research and Beyond Blue, an initiative trying to raise awareness about depression in men. The aim is to grow a Mo in the month of November, and get as many donations/sponsors from your family and friends as you can. Donations can be easily made through you, or online directly to Movember. There are also prizes given out to those that raise a certain amount of money. I have created a team for FordXR6Turbo.com and hope that we can get as many members joining to raise money for such a worthy cause. As a side gag we could also have a little “who has the best Mo” with everyone posting their Mo’s progress throughout November. Perhaps even a little competition for those who are joining us on the Snowies cruise Joining the team is easy, just log on to http://au.movember.com/register/register-team.php?join=1 And enter in my details: Registration Number: 1522216 My email address: gadan@tpg.com.au Then start filling out the rest of your details Donating is even easier; all you need to do is go to http://au.movember.com/donate/index.php And choose whether you would like to donate to an individual member, a team or just movember on their own.
