Clunk in back, I think
That's just a little frightening - to think the suspension is coming apart underneath you. Thanks...

auto or manual
When I ordered my auto, I never realised it had 3 modes. I thought is just full auto, and manual changing. When I found out about the performance auto mode, I couldn't wait to try it. It changes gears better than I can in manual mode, and I find it hard to think of any reason to use manual now at all. Love it !

Clunk in back, I think
I am putting my 4000k old XR6T Auto in to be fixed tomorrow. It has a clunk. I am pretty sure it's from the rear, and I don't think it is the driveline clunk I have read about here. It happens at low speeds when I hit the right sort of bump in the road (or a speed bump), or when doing a U-turn, or even a right turn sometimes. It happened once the other day just as it changed gear (first to second - not in performance mode)) when doing a right turn at some lights. I am thinking it might be the exhaust, or maybe disc calipers, or worse, something in the suspension working loose. It has been getting worse for the last few days. Opinions?

Holden to Ford Great Decision
Great colour choice too

Do you have Manual Transmission?
No it says 75% drive an auto or a manual  I wonder what the other 25% have (maybe their girlfriends change it for them  )

Brake Shudder!
Actually, I say they are just as good at braking, just not as touchy on the pedal. Once you apply the pressure however, they pull up fine and fast.
-
Brake Shudder!
Thanks. That explains why it feels a little less sensitive on the brakes than my previous AUII (which had brake shudder ). Good news is always welcome :-)

Brake Shudder!
Is that fix being implemented in the new builds? For example, I have an August 2004 build. Will mine have the fix, or should I expect shudder?

Where does your temperature gauge sit?
Of course... now I feel stupid

Where does your temperature gauge sit?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by 'thermos fire for a minute or two"?

A few niggles...
Thanks. Especially good to know the brakes are normal.

A few niggles...
It's an XR6T built August 2004. I was referring to the average l/100km reading after a reset then a long drive (300+ km). Refilling at that point, with the average l/100km saying 10, resulted in a distance to empty of about 550 km. Sounds like mine is behaving similar to yours.

A few niggles...
Just wanted to mention a few small things, and get peoples reactions. When I first drive the XR6T in the morning, the brakes need more foot pressure to pull it up, but just for the first stop. The pedal doesn't feel soft or anything, it just feels like I have to stand on it a little harder. I put it down to the pads just being cold and not working as well as normal. (these are NOT premium brakes, just standard). Is this a fault I should mention it it's first service? The calculated distance to empty does not appear to be correct. When the average fuel useage is 10l/100km (this is on long trips), I'd expect it to show 680 km distance when the tank is full, but it is showing about 550. (but slowly increasing each time I fill up). Is this normal? Lastly, there is a greasy smudge down the rear of the drivers window. Something inside the door is smudging the glass as it winds up and down. Anyone else get this? I will be mentioning this at the service.

Where does your temperature gauge sit?
Thanks everyone. It's having it's 300k 'Peace of mind' inspection tomorrow and I will mention it.

Where does your temperature gauge sit?
Where do I find the crank angle sensor?

Where does your temperature gauge sit?
The reason I ask is that today, after a long drive about 100km at 100 to 110km/hr, I struck lots of traffic, slow crawl at 40k in parts for about half an hour. I happened to stop, for a few minutes, and when I tried to restart, it didn't want to go. On the third try, AFTER tickling the throttle a little bit, it fired up (it normally starts first go with no throttle), and I noticed the temp gauge was sitting on halfway - which is the highest I have seen it. Normally it cruises along at about 1/3. The car is an XR6T auto, and stock standard with only 3000k on it. Ambient temperature was about 22 degrees. Does this sound normal?

I can't get enough of this!
not even seeing half here, barely see the top of the car... Is it Envi... nice colour :-)

BP Ultimate vs Caltex Vortex
That's the problem. You only have the BP refinery on the west coast don't you? The cost of physically shipping fuel around is very high, and usually the local refineries supply the local area. I don't think you'll see Vortex over there unless BP make it for Caltex, as the two Caltex refineries are in Brisbane and Sydney, and I think you can guess what would happen to the price

I have named my new car.
I just bought a envi xr6t and that what all my mates have been calling it  I was going to call it "The Green Lantern" but I wondered how many might remember, or even know, what that reference was.

I have named my new car.
So should I call my car 'Kermit' ? (it's Envi colour)

Ford Stands High
Could someone fill me in on what sequential auto is then? I had assumed that the effect inside the box was the same as if you were just pushing buttons to change the gear.

BP Ultimate vs Caltex Vortex
Vortex is 95 most places, but 96 in Queensland - must be some statutory rule on fuel specs or something. A bit of news. I have been told that Caltex are just about to roll out a 98 RON fuel. They are calling it 'Vortex 98' or something like that.
