Should I Polish After Using Nxt Tech Wax 2.0
seduced replied to Turbo Ute's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
Clay wont remove scrathes or swirls. Just paint contaniments. You will need a swirl remover for those. Nxt Gen Wax is alraight, it tends to lose its deep look within a few days though, and its hugely expensive for what it is. I switched to Mothers Califonia Gold and the deepness is far better, tends to stay longer as well. But if you want your paint perfect, take a whole weekend and: 1.Wash 2.Clay 3.Swirl Remover 4.Polish 5.Wax 6.12 Hours later, Wax again Perfect! Then use final detail after future washes to keep it looking deep. Again, Mothers Quik Detailer is better than Meguires. -
You are getting ripped off. There would have been nothing wrong with your oil pump. Its the turbo inline filter that's blocked. He can boost oil pressure all he wants but it wont work and he will destroy another turbo. BUY AN ETM OIL FEED LINE and fit that yourself, takes less than an hour. Sounds like this bloke wants to rebuild you whole engine to make some cash... if he continues to ignore the turbo oil filter, you will be in the same place in a couple of days...DEAD turbo.

Prepare to say goodbye to the local Falcon... one things for sure, the last of the F6s will be a nice collectors item.

"FORD will be the next carmaker to quit manufacturing in Australia because "throwing money" at the industry can only work in the short term, a government adviser has claimed. Subsidies were doomed to fail because the industry lacked a vision for the future and Ford was most vulnerable because it was isolated from its parent's global operations. The carmaker has a 3000-strong production workforce in Australia. "As soon as choices have to be made, Ford is the next Mitsubishi," said John Wormald, principal of international consultant Autopolis, referring to the Japanese company's decision to shut down its Adelaide factory two years ago. Mr Wormald, who is in Australia to advise the Victorian Government, said the replacement for the Falcon, due in about five years, could be imported cheaply and the carmaker did not need its Melbourne plant. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. Related CoverageStern Hu: Set for secret China trial End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. "Ford isn't short of assembly capacity in other places," he said. "Where's the plan to integrate Australia?" Ford is the smallest of the three Australian makers and, unlike GM Expensive Daewoo or Toyota, lacks export markets for the locally made Falcon or its SUV variant, the Territory. Last year, it made about 60,000 cars out of an industry total of 223,000. A spokeswoman for Ford said the company had no plans to abandon manufacturing in Australia." It looks as though the media wants to kill off another brand in australia. I hope Ford dig their heels in real deep and vow to stay. People like this 'expert' have zero knowledge of the internal decisions Ford have made in the US. They fit the company to a model and predict it will fail based on "because it was isolated from its parent's global operations".... where does he grab this fact from? The last meia report? Ford should sue for defamation.

2010, 600Km Old, Fg Xr6T Turbo Oil Leak?
seduced replied to Sir20B's topic in Forced Induction Workshop
Not good enough. If it leaks oil, then its unroadworthy. What isn't warrantable about that? -
I want that engine....

So you replaced it because it may one day fail? While you're at it, do the coil packs, turbo, gearbox, conrods, valve springs, plugs, ECU, radiator, water pump, fuel pump, injectors, diff, driveshafts, ABS system, TC, all lights, all dash wiring, ICC, and you'll be safe and sound.

Fuel Filter Change Highly Recomended
seduced replied to Adrian6T's topic in Engine Management & Fuel Systems
Changed mine at 53k this weekend... Man what a pain-in-the-ass job that was... What should have taken 15mins, took 3 hours.... Good quality spanners would not crack the bolts... sprayed WD40 everywhere, still wouldn't...Eventually I got the front one undone without rounding the bolt.... tried the rear one and gave up when it started to round... I followed the line back to the tank, disconnected it there, drilled out the rivet holding the line holder and pulled line out with the filter t to work on it... I didnt have a bench vice so I decided to go buy one, went to take my wife's car, noticed I had left the keys in the falcon ignition set to "on"... battery was now too dead to start the car.... it was getting old anyways... eventually got a new 600cca battery (much much better than the crap stock 450 units) and a bench vice... Got home, finnaly got the filter free, hook everything back up and checked for leaks... 3 hours later, $200, rounded and destryoed bolts, fuel in my eyes, and one new benchvice the job was done....... Looking forward to the next one.... Then had a chat to my mate who works at a ford dealership... reckons the only way they get them off is with pipe spanners... and they only do them at 90,000kms. Car is now ALOT stronger since. oh, and 600CCA battery is 100000x times better than 450 for these cars. -
In the recent bathurst 12 hour, the SS wagon RWD pulled quicker lap times in the wet than the EVOs and WRXs.... Very interesting. AWD would be great, but is all the R&D really worth the outcome? All that effort for a better 60ft time? Now if the falcon was FWD and you wanted to amke it AWD, then that would be worth doing. RWD is still best IMO.

"Why limit a top level sport, all you do is take away the inovation and creativity of the engineers. " Exactly. That is the reason why the manafactuers should leave the sport. What benefits them in its current form? Nothing...

I fixed mine by removing the bar, and the the plastic clip assembly at the sides was removed, drilled to allow adjustment where the screws are and tightened slightly higher. Clipped it back on and problem was fixed.

For the everyday driver with a fairly sedate turbo will be fine with a good quality synthetic oil. If you are running big power and fully built engines, then yes royal purple would be a nice place to start. Penrite will sell about $50 for 5L. But, if Ford recommend a 15w40 oil, why do people ignore this and use 0w40 or axw60 oil? I believe there is a thread here somewhere discussing the downsides to 0w oils for our engines... might be worth reading again.

Grab a manual tailshaft, it will save some headaches.
-
I heard from a highly respected mechanic who is a site sponser that castrol edge tends to froth in the engine way too much and is causing sludging issues...IMO any oil that needs a prime-time TV ad to sell isnt worth it. I am currently running Penrite fully synthetic, will try nulon etc. But as with any oil, change it often and use the right grade and you should be right. Royal purple is fine if you want hundreds of thousands of kays before a rebuild, but for those who move into new cars every 5 years or so, its just a waste of money.

apologies for all the typos... there is a problem with my browser, I cant see what I am typing until its posted.... driving me nuts.

fiar comment. So it should just be a power to weight ratio across the feild and then let all the suspension, drivline, aero be up to the teams. I would love to see something like that, it would open the doors to new designs and creative thinking... The brands would actually see some benefit there... they could test new suspension designs or whatever. I would watch something liek that.

Why do they all have to be v8s? Why not keep the rules simple: RWD, power capped at 400kw, weight at1200kgs or whatever adn the rest
-
I would personally love to see a mostly stock AMG or M3 turn up and flog the crap out of the 'supercars'.... I remember Merc recently saying they wouldnt provide a pace car 'because it would be wrong for the pace car to be quicker than the race cars...' love it! V8SC needs re-inventing...

45,000km is a scheduled oil change service according to ford. I checked my receipt from back then and they certainly charged me for it... The only reason it was serviced by Ford was it was its first one since I had first bought it at 40,000kms and I had some warranty work to get done, from emeory they did change it, I remember checking now... but it must be some low-grade crap to be that black so quickly. I'm sure there will be more turbo failures and sludge problems for those who own 150,000km or more BAs with 15,000 servicing the only love given. Ford will never see my car again. They did some great warranty work for me though, credit where credit is due, but I will choose what fluids from now on....
-
The last time my car was serviced was at 45,000kms, by ford. I just did the 52,500km oil change myself and was shhocked to see how black and carboned up the oil was only after 7500kms.... It made me wonder if Ford changed the oil at all, it looked very old. What oil does Ford use? I filled it back up with some lovely Fully Syn Penrite and I will be doing all future changes myslef. Ford will not see th For those who do their own changes, is this normal for even higher quality oils? For those who wait 15,000kms between changes...I'd re-think that strategy...

Flashed From Custom To Std, Now Runs Like Crap
seduced replied to daves3's topic in Engine Management & Fuel Systems
Valet tune is gold. I would love to see their looks on their faces when they go to thrash the thing and it cuts at 3k ...hahah... I have used it many times. -
Strictly speaking, dynamat and similar products are not sound deadeners. They are vibration dampeners which is what you'll need for speakers. There is no need to cover the whole door with the stuff, all you want to achieve is to stop the panels from vibrating. usually, about 50% coverage tends to do the job and there is no further benfit by piling more and more on. Sure, when you rap on the outside it will sound like a timber dorr rather than steel, but dont be fooled into thinking that it is completely sound proofed, its simply not allowing vibrations. Which is great for improving speaker responsiveness. If you want proper sound control, you will need to deaden but then also absorb and create a barrier. I'm in the process of doing this myself, this 3 stage process will significantly reduce road noise and wind noise while massivley improving the sound of my stereo. The only hurdle is cost. I found a roll of "sound control" which is 1.8x5m and weighs about 80kg and is about 8mm thick. This stuff will absorb and block any sound from entering the cabin.... its also $500.... but there is enough to do two cars or really go to town on one. The only downside? the work involved and the extra weight. But 90% of the time, I would prefer my car to be quiet and refined rather than insanley fast.

^perfect example of over using emoticons.... TC is turned off when I am driving spirited and happy to have a bit of slip. Its always on when just cruising. why? WOT applications aren't very often when cruising and I'd rather have the DCS on when cruising or when my wife is driving. It could save her one day. Otherwise the thing will spin 1st 2nd and 3rd in the wet without trying to hard... besides, I reckon the axletramp will do more damage than the TC cut power every now and then.
