Tassie Cruise
I have had a look at the Spirit of Tasmanina site, and have gathered a few details on costs for Car and Passenger Fare and have also put a link at the bottom that has suggested tours, pretty much only 3 day ones but they are split up into reigon's and have a listing of the towns and accomodation etc. I'll check out the list of places that ETM suggested first though and get some prices for accommodation through those places, and post them in here also. Cheers Brad Passenger http://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/tassiejourneys/index.htm

Hey Maximus, has anyone ever thought about doing a calender? This guy has some real nice shots and though it may be a bit late for 2009? ( or not ) what do people think of using this photographer and getting some really awesome shots and putting together a calender for 09' or even 2010? Surely someone out there know's someone in the printing game or they themselves can set us up. If we had some finacial help from Sponsors, and then charged a certain $ figure to purchase the calender and any profits would go back into maintaing the site ? Brad- Tassie Cruise
ETM definately a great starting point. What are the thoughts on that? I reckon that would break it up real nice, to have a day at Simmons.- Tassie Cruise
LOL yeah that was my thinking too, cold weather + T's = but we'll just play it by ear. Like I said I'll start collecting as much info as I can as far as routes, accomodations and costs and all that, also by speaking to the crew down in Tas.Then throw up some options for people to look at so if they need to arrange leave etc. I can set up a listing and just keep updating it. I'll keep a seperate list for those who are definately wanting to go and one for those who are interested but just want to wait til' more details are confirmed. Some of the key points that need some well thought out plans and discussions that I can think of are: 1. Date of when and how long to be away for - few days?? a week?? 2 ?? 2. What routes to take 3. Is there adequate and affordable accomodation ( hotel/motel, pub, caravan or cap site ) along or near those routes and how much ? 4. Is fuel going to be an issue during any of the routes/cruises ? 5. If required should we be carrying specific spares other than usual and if so what are those spares/replacements ? 6. Do we need to have people assigned to specifc roles to share the load or is it better for one central person to oversee things ? 7. Communicate if and how many people are first aid trained and organise to have appropriate first aid equipment ( something more substantial than a couple of bandaids and bottle of detol ) which includes C.B's, Scanners, Phones and any other devices for emergency situations. 8. Work out an appropriate buddy system, and have a driver listing that includes drivers name, any passangers, model of their car and the rego. 9. Whether we need to communicate who we are and what we're doing to any group's, communities or local authorities These are just a few things that I could think of, as I mentioned before I havent been on a local cruise yet so anything else that I've missed please feel free to list. Cheers brad- Tassie Cruise
For sure mate sounds like a plan I reckon- Tassie Cruise
that's awesome thanks tab I'll just start collecting info as far as places to stay and cruise's and costs etc and post them in here. Meanwhile like I mentioned before if any of the Tassie guys or NSW guy's who were on the last one have any details that may be helpful that would be great. Anyone else that would like to add suggestions also for dates or even a specific month would be a good starting point. As things progress further for those who are interested we can arrange to get together to go over details and perhaps discuss things on up comming cruises. Cheers Brad- Speed Camera Propaganda
Well the 2 guy's I spoke to, one the guy who worked for the company that manufactured the lazers for the gun or whatever it is called and the other is a boy in blue, so maybe not explaining it correctly but both are definately real and being used- Tassie Cruise
Awesome !! sounds like it could definately be something for next year and by the look of what the guy's from NSW did, there's the possibility of turning it into a week long trip, doing a few cruises plus some other tour's along the way. So I guess first thing would be to see if there was enough interest there and then looking into costing's and dates etc. I think with the amount of planning involved though it would be good to get together on a few occasions to ensure things are planned properly and all that. If any of the guy's who did the Tassie cruise from NSW (and are keen to do it again) have any advice or contacts and also any of the guy's from Tassie who would be keen to meet up with us have recommendations of accomodations and also recommended cruise routes, it would be really appreciated. Cheers Brad If I could also add being as new as I am if any of the mods , bosses etc have any tips or suggestions, please let me know. I don't want to step out of turn or on anyone's shoes or go about things the wrong way that would also be appreciated- Tips When Selling Privately
I do have a work number but am not permitted to give it out for the purpose of selling a car. My car is insured along with my house and contents, my job is not. So if I had to chose from having the car broken into or stolen and being sacked for using company details innapropriately id chose the first option. Nothing on the car is custom it's a stock AU Futura sedan only mods are the alloy wheels, alarm, cd player and tinted windows- Tassie Cruise
Tassie October 2009 Cruise Cancelled. Brad. ( if anyone would like to keep the cruise open or take on the organising themsleves please send me a pm and I will give you any details you may need. ) Guy's, giving this until next Tuesday the 31st March for people to confirm their interest. If there is none I'll be posting the cruise as being cancelled. There are people who have organised leave so to be fair to them I need serious confirmations. Thanks Brad Greeting's all, just putting the feelers out there about a cruise over to Tassie (full weekend) possibly over some of the Targa routes. I had a look to see if there had been but could not find any on here from past years unless I'm blind, and there's no Tasmania listed with the other states. Would obviously take alot of organising and help from those involved etc but depending on how often the boat go's over and back, we could have a couple half day cruise's plus a get together on the sat night or something. Anyway like I said just putting the thought out there. Cheers UPDATE.... Tassie Cruise - October 2009 Departing Melbourne Tuesday 20th October 8pm (check in for boat - 6.30 pm) Arrive back in Melbourne Wednesday 28th October 8am (check in for boat - 6.30 pm on Tuesday night) Members Interested Sleeper6T tab Phantomchic Senna_T Iconic Bionic turbo.vixen- Tips When Selling Privately
Unfortunately carsales.com is pretty specific about what you have to do to have an add posted and that means supplying a phone number and a suburb so any half witt with a brain can track down an address in about 10 seconds by calling telstra assistance 1234. The reason I know this is cos I work in retail and have had to track customers down with partial information myself, and depending what info I had or needed was able to get their, address, or phone number. So while it's a good point and worth being that careful it makes no difference as you can track down someone with the click of a couple buttons or a phone call. As far as not going with the person when they want to take it for a test drive I dont know who would do that certainly not me anyway. Not too sure I agree about the not telling them of the security measures of the car. For one it's a feature of the car and, two, even if I werent to list it in the add when they came around to look or test drive they'd find out anyway. It's really good to get the feedback though cos there is always things you forget yourself or should change etc. Cheers- Speed Camera Propaganda
Speaking to a couple friends recently both had some interesting things to say in regards to the hand held radar's the VIC and NSW police use and also the more newer camera's on highway and freeway's which take a snap shot of you at one point and do a calculation of your speed over a specific distance. One was saying that the hand held camera's are very hit and miss in terms of they need to have a lock on your speed for at least 3 seconds at which time you can pass or be passed by other cars, or fluctuate your own speed which causes an inaccurate reading. I'm not too knowledgable on the tech side of it although this one particular friend has never had to pay a fine. With the other camera's apparently they get calobrated with the distance between the 2 camera points therefore knowing how long it should take to reach the 2nd camera at the speed limit however, he mentioned that all they have to do is recalobrate it to a shorter distance and so unless you do at least 10km under the limit then you get fined anyway. Revenue raising 101 !!- Speed Camera Propaganda
Mistake....hand held radar not camera- Tips When Selling Privately
Awesome thanks guy's some good tips. I've pretty much done all that I just had the RWC done so car running really good, I went for the drive with the guy and actually met him at the top of my drive (live in a set of units) and didnt tell him the unit number of my place, but I keep it in my lock up garage anyway. I had the touch up guy's come around a couple weeks ago to go over the whole exterior and I went through the Interior doing everything I could. Really a shame I need to sell it to help by the T cos would love to keep it as a day driver but it's that few grand that I really need lol. Thanks to the excellent melbourne weather too of late with the dirty rain I have been taken it to the local car wash with my bucket and chamois. Sounds like I'm doing all the right things I guess it's more knowing the tire kickers/time wasters from the genuine buyers and like you said being firm on the price. If it wasnt in their price range they wouldnt make the effort to come out. Cheers ! Brad- Tips When Selling Privately
Hi all, just after some tips or hints when selling a car privately. I have my AU on carsales, carpoint and on here and only today had my first possible person come around to have a look etc. I have always traded in cars and so have never had to deal with this process. Any tips would be much appreciated cheers Brad- Speed Camera Propaganda

LOL what a freakin loserrrr ! does that fall into the category of the guys who buy plastic fake chrome wheel covers form supercheap auto and try and pass them off as alloy wheels??..... what a farkin :tosser: if I see him again I might see if he'll take the AU on at the next green and see what he says- High Speed Driving Course
no worries mate, trying to align the freakin' planets with getting mine sold and organising to buy the T etc. So in the mean time I will get some prices and stuff of a couple places and post back on here. cheers Brad- Vic Spotted & Chat Thread
Cos I'm still new and haven't been on a cruise and met other drivers yet, it's amazing at how much more I notice XR6's and the T's. Find myself having a longer look in the rearview mirror looking for the red "Turbo" under the XR6 badge I did see a Taxi today (as I was heading to the Mechanic with a rooted Battery and Altenator stopping 5 times between Moorolbark and Ringwood to get a jump :biglaugh: ) that to my suprise was a Turbo. Wouldnt think it would be the most economical car for a taxi- High Speed Driving Course
Thanks guys, yeah I really enjoyed the JB one when I did it at Point Cook, I still remember and use the things I was taught back then today. There's so much I need to learn about these cars, and how to take care of them and maintain them. Only thing I ever owned that was even close to high performance was my XE Fairmont GHIA with a 351 Cleveland which ran like a dog, and always overheated lol. Think the boys at Nizpro may get sick of me pretty quick ! :biglaugh:- High Speed Driving Course
Greeting's all, as I will finally have my T in about 3-4 weeks, I'm going to be looking into doing a High Speed Defensive Driving Course. I did a basic level one about 10 years ago, and would like to go through a similar one for handling at high speeds. My first option is the John Bowe School of Driving which is where I did the last one. I do know that some places require that you have completed a basic DDC course before doing the high speed one. So just wanted to find out if anybody else was interested in doing it aswell ? Maybe having a day with just T's ?? Or if anybody knows of a really good one they could recommend. As it's going to be toward end of November when I get my car there's a good chance it may not be until Jan 09' however if there are still places running cources through Dec I'm happy to look into then also. Obviously with Xmas and people organising things with family plus any cruises being organised it may be hard. Just let me know cheers Brad :o- What Would You Have If The T Was Never Made

Don't know if he shopped around at all, he did mention something about Mike's reputation I think? For me that was his first mistake, especially with machinery like a Z. His second was not cutting his losses and taking the car back after hearing one BS excuse after the next. Not my kind of car but if I was getting work done on my T or the like, there's no way in hell I would intrust it to a guy that had some past issues and I certainly wouldn't say "I'll give him a go". Do feel for him but ultimately the ownership and responsibility falls back on him. There's alot of dodgies out there unfortunately he was stung by a first class hack.
