Fog Lights/ Driving Lights
Heh. I've seen a couple of Excel's around where people have taken to the rear-bar mounted foggie with a hammer. Best solution IMHO.I was once driving behind one in my first car (an XF which had those copper spotties fitted to the front bar and on an isolation switch & relay from the high beams:blush:) Mr Excel driver didn't enjoy copping over 600W in his rear vision mirror. We exchanged some words at the next set of lights where he first told me it was illegal to drive with my high beams on. He didn't like being told that it was also illegal to drive with his rear fog light on during a perfectly clear night. Did he turn it off? No.

Ve Ss Is Fast!
Uh huh... just like the late 70's/early 80's and the disappearing of the Phase IV GTHO. It's only a matter of time. They can only get so powerful from the factory until it hits a ceiling.

Air Fuel Or Exhaust Gas Temp Gauge?
So in theory, the AFR guage shows you exactly what the ECU should be doing? If something was wrong and the ECU wasn't controlling the AFR correctly, you'd know about it because of the way the car was performing (or not performing)? What guages are you running, GOLDIE? I'm still sorry I missed the chance to see your car on the cruise you came down to Sydney for last year...

Air Fuel Or Exhaust Gas Temp Gauge?
I hear ya. A mate of mine has one of these in a VY S alongside an oil pressure guage... no idea why he thinks he needs it anyway, the engine is as good as stock. The guage is useless - he'd have been much better off with oil temp guage next to the pressure guage.

Overhaulin'
Amen to that!! I liked American Hot Rod but got a bit over it when Bluebear turned into a noodle head and Boyd seemed to get even more arrogant. Mike was one of my favourites on there, he always told it like it was. Even though Bluebear was a mate Mike would tell him when he was being stupid and he wasn't shy about telling Boyd what he thought either. The first episode of Overhaulin' that I saw I loved it. I decided straight away that Boyd is an arrogant little princess who storms off to his office to have a whinge or fire someone while Chip just gets down to business and builds the cars. But yeah, for all the dramatics in American Hot Rod, Overhaulin' has all the crap filler that they could easily do without.

I'm Sick Of Paying So Much
And this reply was to who...? ← If you are 18 and you think its directed at you, then it probably is ← 1/ I'm 25 2/ My BA isn't a T 3/ My insurance is about to go down $400 a year as I'm considering changing insurers (since turning 25 a couple of weeks ago and NRMA offering no further discounts, especailly after I've had car after car insured with them for 7 years) 4/ I'm not offended

Pods
Get a Typhoon air intake (& airbox if you don't want to cut a hole in your existing airbox). It comes from both over the radiator and from directly behind the headlight.

Tint
Bob's a legend. He tinted the windows on my brother's Commodore & I dropped in on my way home from work since he was still working on it. He was looking at the tints I had done on my car (by the dealer) and at the same time noticed my parcel tray wasn't tucked under the 3rd brake light. So he insisted on fixing it up for me - took him 20 minutes and the bass vibration (Premium Sound) I'd had since buying the car in 2003 was goooone. It had been at the dealers' 3 times and they'd never figured out what the vibration was coming from. If you're getting a BA tinted - get them to tint over the 3rd brake light if you have a spoiler. There's no bulb and it's ugly as with the tint cutout around it.

Xr6 N/a Exhaust
If you're looking for "power gain" then why aren't you getting a free flowing exhaust and extractors?! If money's the issue then save up and do it right the first time. One of my favourite sayings: Buy Cheap. Buy Twice You can normally pick up the Typhoon airbox & intake (larger intake comes over the radiator + an extra one from behind the left headlight) off eBay for under $200. Or just go to your local dealer. Not many in wreckers yet!

Xr6 N/a Exhaust
Basically an "in-line" muffler. It sort of looks like it wraps around the exhaust, hence the name. Are the other mods you have in mind performance mods or looks?

Check This..
:pulease: "X"?! I'll take it!! How much?

I'm Sick Of Paying So Much
I'm sorry, but I'm not going to have a car insured for market value when the options list is as long as my arm. If the thing is written off or stolen then it cannot be replaced for the "market value". Pretty simple, really. Anyways, I'm probably going to sell the car now to get some more money together for a house. Wanna know how much a house is in Sydney?! Ha.

T Vs Supercharged S Pack Ha Ha Ha
What's the difference between the ratios? Mine runs an LSD too...

Aaah, now I feel a bit better!! How much is it insured for?

T Vs Supercharged S Pack Ha Ha Ha
I hope you gave yourself a slap after re-reading your post!! Why not say "even the stock Barra 182 can beat the stock Barra 182"...?! Was that a typo? Um, no. The XR6 N/A runs the Barra 182 (in BA/BA MkII trim anyway). With a weight difference between the two of about 16kgs, I'd say that little result would come down to the drivers and which transmission each was running.

Exhaust Heat Shield Rattle and Removal (Merged Topic)
Same here - N/A and cat was replaced somewhere around 53,000. Bloody annoying sound and VERY embarrassing when engine breaking! As for a "growing list", I don't have one of those...!

Need Advice About A Clunk In The Rear
Mine's manual but I was getting a clunk from the rear end when putting it into gear and when disengaging the clutch when slowing to a stop. It basically sounded like there was a bottle of water rolling around in the boot and hitting the back of the rear seats when I stopped. 1x new diff later, the problem was gone, but I'm not sure if anything else had to be tightened up in addition to the new diff.

I'm Sick Of Paying So Much
I have a near-perfect driving record & until December 2005, I hadn't been booked for over 6 years, with one fine the only blemish on my record. I have a Rating 1. It must be a lot to do with where I live but I don't understand the rest. I'm going to call the NRMA today and see if they can give me some sort of an explanation as no-one else pays anything near what I do.

I'm Sick Of Paying So Much
Whereabouts do you live? I've found that seems to be making a big difference too.

I'm Sick Of Paying So Much
From: Launceston, TAS - that's gotta be helping you though! I'm in Sydney & the problem is that I live in a suburb that shares a post code with some beach-front suburbs that are prone to idiots doing stupid things in their cars & it's not far from Brighton le Sands (that should give Sydney-siders an idea). As for crime around here, it's almost non-existent. Our neighbour doesn't even lock his VT (idiot in my opinion) that's parked in his driveway, it's just because of the post code. I'll definitely shop around - I know I could get a much better premium from GIO in NSW, but they won't insure me because (get this) I have a "performance car". A STOCK-STANDARD N/A!! Can I insure a Fairmont with the same donk & worth more dollars? Absolutely. It's bloody ridiculous. Yet a mate of mine has a VY S with 18's, SS seats, lowered, CAI, cat-back exhaust AND he lost his license for 12 months a couple of years ago. Can he get insurance with GIO? Sure, why not? It just gives me the . So far: AAMI won't insure me (age) Just Car Insurance won't give me an online quote (age) Suncorp won't insure me (age) Why the BA XR6 N/A has such a bounty on it compared to a VY S is beyond me.

Do AAMI give you a choice of repairer option?
