The Turbo Wont Start
Yep, had it a couple of times now. Seems to happen after not driving the car for a few days. Generally starts second go, but with a rough idle for a few seconds. Also get a weird idle sometimes when stopped at lights or moving very slowly through peak-hour traffic - momentary surge of revs from normal (500) to about 1500, then to just below 500, and then back to normal

Fog Lights
My boss was done a couple of years ago. Got out of it by saying it was a new car and was unfamiliar with all the dials and knobs I would only use them during the day if there was actually fog or a storm or something. Sometimes use them at night, mainly if there are no street lights and/or I am not familiar with the road I am driving on. Not fussed over whether others have them on or not, day or night.

Performance Car Prices In The Us
Another interesting comparison is how long it takes the average joe to buy such a vehicle . Dividing local RRP by the local average weekly income, you get the following: US Workers Aussie Battlers Audi S8 36 months 59 months BMW M3 22 37 Corvette 25 NA Lexus LS430 27 47 Mazda RX-8 13 16 Merc E500 27 41 Boxster S 25 35 911 Turbo 55 82 WRZ Imprezza 12 11 Passat W8 19 NA (eg. it would take 38 months of income for the average US worker to by an Audi S8 (assuming no spend on anything else), whereas the little aussie battler has to wait a massive 59 months.) Interesting that we don't seem to fair too badly on Japanese vehicles, with the WRX actually slightly cheaper here. And yes its a slow day at work today

Cooling System Flush
Checked on the weekend. Mine looks just like yours, with roughly the same kilometres as Turbo6.

Cooling System Flush
I am on the same kilometres as you. temp gauge is normally just below half, and I don't recall it moving around much once the car is warmed up. Haven't checked coolant tank recently to see what colour it is now

What Freebies Are People Getting From The Dealer
umm ... free first aid kit I think was free :o and a free holder for the number plate that has the dealer name on it :o That's all. Oh, and the fact that the car was purchased at government prices, on-going fuel is bought at government prices (and they insist on PULP), no costs to me should I happen to damage the car in any way (nothing yet, touch wood) ...

Empty Slot In Boot Right Hand Side
Off topic, but I got a first aid kit for free.

Turbo Fuel Economy
Here's a bit of fun (? :o ): instead of looking at the 'average', set the display to show instantaneous fuel consumption readings. Just cruzin' around normal like B) , the economy fluctuates anywhere from 7 point something per 100k to around mid 13s. Watch the display as you give it a kick, and see the numbers shoot up to 55 or 60, and even higher :o Obviously these spikes will influence your average readings. So, guys who seem to be concerned (I'm looking at you Chrislak, and vik351), what 'instantaneous' figures are you getting when you are not driving the absolute sh!t out of your car?

New Job For Information Minister
 How about this one: "On behalf of General Motors Holden, I would like to confirm that there is no problem at all with our highly reliable Generation III V8 engines. The oil consumption of these engines is the best currently available in the market. We are satisfied that no general recall is needed, as has been suggested by the infidels at Ford Motor Company"

It's Here It's Great
Congratulations Like that second photo - I can just imagine what happened when you got back in the car (reduce speed indeed )

$6850 Off Xr6t
Don't know about you, but here in Sydney I have seen far more NA XR6s than I have turbos. Maybe the turbo is just a little too far out of the reach of many people? Maybe they are going for a V8 XT instead? Still, not good to have a car drop in price that much in a bit over six months .

Ba Cop Car
 Someone should set up a cab company, call it 'Turbo Taxis', and market themselves as the fastest way to get you anywhere (similar to the Sliver Service mob here in Sydney, who all drive silver fairlanes with drivers in suits etc...). See a BA XT cop car on my way to work almost everyday PS. I'll take a 10% commission on all profits from anyone that goes ahead with the Turbo Taxi idea!

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?
PHILLIP RUDDOCK: I don't care why the chicken crossed the road it should be sent back to where it came from. Who knows what might happen if we keep letting any old chicken cross the road. We could be inundated with them. Send them to the farmer up the road a bit and we can pay him to deal with the problem. JEFF KENNETT: If the chicken did cross the road it should have been fitted with an etag and should pay the same toll as all other road users. STEVE BRACKS: Regional chickens should have the same opportunities to cross roads as chickens living in Melbourne. JOHN HOWARD: The chick never crossed the road. And it was not forcibly removed from its mother! Anyway, that's a matter for the states and is of no interest to us. The United Nations should butt out. KIM BEASLEY: There WAS a chicken and it DID cross the road. This is a deliberate act by the government to hide the fact that chickens continue to cross Australian roads. NATASHA STOTT-DESPOJA: What if it was not a chicken but a bantam? Minority sectors of our community shouldn't be discriminated against based purely on the size of their legs. EVELYN SCOTT: To demonstrate a commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous chickens. PETER COSTELLO: Accordingly to documentation submitted to the Live Foods Processing Authority, the chicken in question was uncooked at the Time of its journey and therefore will not incur a GST charge. However, if that chicken actually crossed the road for profit, regardless of its raw/cooked status, the road crossing would be considered by the ATO to be a service for which GST will be imposed. PAULINE HANSON: Please explain. ROBERT DE NIRO: Are you telling me the chicken crossed that road? Is that what you're telling me? MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR: I envision a world where all chickens, be they black or white or brown or red or speckled, will be free to cross roads without having their motives called into question. GRANDPA: In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken crossed and that was good enough for us. REV FRED NILE: Because the chicken is *beep*! Isn't it obvious? Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the 'other side'. That's what 'they call it: the 'other side' Yes, my friends. CAPTAIN JAMES T KIRK: to boldly go where no chicken has gone before. FOX MULDER: You saw it cross the road with your own eyes. How many more chickens have to cross before you believe it's true? HANSIE CRONJE: What if I could guarantee that it won't get to the other side? FREUD: the fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity. How do you feel about your mother? THE C.I.A: Who told you about the chicken? Did you see the chicken? There was no chicken. Please step into the car. IRAQI INFORMATION MINISTER (MOHAMMED SAID AL-SAHHAF): We can confirm that the chicken did not cross the road, and our initial assessment is that all chickens attempting to cross the road will die. EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road or did the road move beneath the chicken? BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What do you mean by chicken? Could you define the word 'chicken'. HOMER SIMPSON: mmmm Chicken.

The Song On The New Falcon Ad
On the official New Order website, the following has been posted by someone: "You might be interested to know that Warner Australia seems to have released a promo 1-track CD single of 'Slow Jam' - probably as part of the track's use for Ford advertising. Catalogue number is WCDB113."

Blood Orange Xr6t
Saw my first blood orange XR6 sedan while driving past Brad Garlick Ford yesterday. Looked the goods I reckon (and much closer to venom than expected, at least from a distance).

Turbo Fuel Economy
A steady speed, even 60-70km/h, with NO STOPS will achieve the same thing as a blast on the freeway. Get a series of red lights in a row and sure enough the fuel economy starts to climb (ie. worsen). I almost always accelerate pretty hard away from a red light (race or no), and if I do this, I find that I generally get through the next one before IT turns red - must be something about the timing sequence of the lights and estimates of how long it takes the average car to get between them. Anyways, point is, this invariably allows me to maintain a steady speed with very few stops, and hence better fuel economy overall.

Turbo Fuel Economy
Just under 3,500 on the clock, and fuel economy now hovering around 14.6-14.8L/100km. Have not reset the calculator since I picked up the car. Run it almost exclusively on Optimax, and needs a few freeway runs now and again to get it to stay around 14.6.
