Ba Xr6T Ute
The Tranz temps in any car will vary in heat mainly due to the power put through it, converter size and the oil used. What size stall you got and power, how hard to you drive it/Race. I'm a bit mad when it comes to racing, the Adlerian kicks in and run straight after run is normally done, 80% of the time there is no wait, straight into burnout and staging. With 450rwks the now moved cooler which was in a very similar place to yours handled it, with the extra 150rwks that changed everything. The cooler got that hot the paint on the front bar started to go pear shaped. We stuck a fan in front of the front bar and there was strong air movement in this location and having them on a angle will increase surface area and the fans are just back up. Will have to get a temp gauge. The old oil was fried and stunk.

You got it totally right John, sort these small issues and roll it out again. Had a good look into these oil's and with speaking with my Box/Converter builder he recommends the transmax Z, on the other oils application details they state with extreme use eg Drag Racing the Z is referred too. Hope this sounds right guys.. Wacked in another PWR cooler/fan and moved the existing 1, should do the job of getting the massive amount of heat out...

OK - Would like to see into 4 figures for HP. Ran it for the first time with this set up in street trim/pump fuel and found a few issues which are being sorted. With the stall flaring on the dyno it was crappy on the track and wow was it a warm night up in Townsville. Changing from penrite sharp shift to Castrol Tranzmax z and the cooler/fan is going from behind the front bar to under the tray, might have to put another cooler in, see how it lines up on the 8th Jan when the track is rolling again. Still have another converter on order. No records were set on the night but fun was had with alot of unseen racers turning up for this meet which incorporated a show an shine and 30 mile cruise.

Well Tray your power figure is sweet !! We should be right for more. You know what its like when you head up around these figures with everything having to be right on the day which was not the case with this round for tuning.. we are having a tinker then re-load time.

Cheers for that GENTS it's getting there hey... would of loved to of run it this weekend, especially with Kent's beast ready to smash some more records but it's not ready yet, At least the 5 point harness is going in on Friday. Did have plans up untill this morning to take it down to Summer Nats but time is not on our side with the NEW Stall converter and more Tuning to be knocked over. The converter when under power is just flaring to the limiter ,with the box being a T400 the stall has to be hand made to half GM and Ford so we are going from a 9" converter to a 10.5", the existing one cannot be tightened up to what we want. Heres a few more Vid's Mick has put up.

Mate is still has good manors and just throws you into the back for the seat on about half throttle much more than that , especially if taking off in 3rd. Dave does know how to tune these things. Mick posted up a run on Utube here is the link -

Ba Xr6T Ute
We tuned the Ute today and made 607rwks with 33psi running Methanol.. through a Turbo 400 with a big stall which was slipping heaps. Have a tighter 1 ordered. Great to drive and hooked up well considering the hot and hummid weather have to organize some rims/rubber and get it down the strip. If you would like to know anything about this rig feel free to ask or Prior info is in the 400/300 club, some links

Twin 044'S... How Loud?
Have 4 044's in my Ute which are boost ativated with 2 running all the time and I think it sound horn/tuff, other xr's/cars pull up besides at ask what the sound is the Ute is lound anyway with the exhuast. Have pull the fuse for 1 of the 2 pumps and the second 1 when reactivated make it about 30% lounder.

Custom Ute Fuel System, Supporting 1000+Hp
LOL and it is still a daily driver Have been involved with the design and the installation but by no means take credit. About 72 Hrs to install. Yea should do the job for what the goal is...Fast Street Ute and a Drag/Track/Dyno car running up to 4 different fuels. I know exactly what I really would like out of it for times on the strip but getting the power down in a ute has already proven hard in full race trim with a mates Ute (Ba XR6T) who got high 9's. We will have the power and are working on a way to transfer this.. After a cage/different diff gears and maybe a hollinger box (after track times are in) and few other small items that should be it have already gone through 2 girl friends with this build but we all know what it's like with the quest for a goal. and getting carried away.

Custom Ute Fuel System, Supporting 1000+Hp
With turning the Ute up another issue that had to be addressed was the fuel system. First thing was to know what fuels you want to run and their consumption rates, eg methanol uses 2.4 times what 98 does..and what power is desired. With running a mix of fuels for different applications and still being a street Ute the cell is about 80lts with the surge section being about 20lts with internal baffles and the original sender unit installed so the trip computer still works and the breather. Mounting points were critical due to tail shaft ect, the other option was to have everything in the tray.. Went 4 bosch 044 pumps which are boost and tune activated, -10 lines to the 2000hp Turbosmart reg and Process West rail with the return being -8 with speedflow fittings. Due to using 1600cc injectors a versafuel emc has been wired into each injection and the main computer. Have been told we can get away with up to 800-1000cc injectors without the versafueler. To drain the fuels from the system 2 snap lock fittings are used with the rear having it's own pump. The photos tell the story too, any questions/quires PM me, Cheers Chad.

Thanks Geoff, nice to see the mod process on its way with the new Ute. Heads up on an easy way to drain fuels from our rigs, we used 2 snap lock fittings, 1 at the reg and the other coming out of the existing fill point with a pump on this 1 with the power sorce and switch on the rear power set up.

WOW wasn't that a mammoth effort and lots of $'s for a fuel system.... anyway it's completed. Use the origanil sender unit so the trip computer still works. We also installed these cool shift lights come knock sensors and mounted them above the tripod. Tuning on Tuesday and run it down the strip not long after, Few happy snaps for ya all...

4" Or Twin 3" Exhaust For Fg?
Went a custom twin 3" on the Ute, 6" collector after dump no cats and 2 magnaflow muffs also 3" ea. Sounds TUFF with no droooon. Got it made up in Cairns while working up there, $1300. The dump was custom made by Mick, Dave (Blueboost's) mate. Should support big power, Ute currently running 450 and we will find out next week if it's good for our goal with the feul system completed.

Thanks SPIKO, The tank design/system has had input from a fair few people like Dave, Mick and others, the bottom of the tank is set up of the surge with baffels internaly with the 4 outlet feeds having their pick ups from the middle of the tank, the lower section is 16LTRS and the overall capacity is 75LTRS. On the water/meth injection when used on 98 brings the octane up to 106ron but the real gain with our cars is temps are reduced. Without a tune I took it for a hard hot lap and noticed the power difference but when tuned to suit gains of up to 10% have been known. We are going to tune it to run on 98, E85 and straight Methanol.... (Fine of $1000 per cylinder if busted running meth on the street) the real gain with the water/meth injection will be seen on 98 and then E85. The ron of Methanol is 140 and when running it the inlet, internal and outlet temps will be dramatically reduced, instead of heat soak and power loss with the build of rmp the motor will get cooler and make more power, so I have been advised. The kit is from AEM and is $460, snow also make a neat bit of gear.

Battery Relocation In A Ute
We did it with the cables running through the cab which I would not do again due to feed back into the sound system, seperated all the cables for the system to one side and the battery the other, so go outside the cab, just run them along the chasse rail. Just use 0 gauge cable and come off the original points in the engine bay run it up into the tray using a couple of crommets to encase the cables and grab a battery box, material costs were about $170 and takes about 4 hours.

533Rwkw On Pump Fuel
Cool, sounds TUFF, did you find the boost dropped around 5psi after the installing for the same power level and did the STG 4's change the streetability at all.. Sorry for all the questions just thinking of wacking some in Ute while the fuel system is getting finaly fitted up.

Hey All, Haven't been on the forum too much, been flat out and on holidays for a while, anyway been doing some work on the Ute over the past week, thought a update was due.. Water/Methanol injection kit (AEM) installed. Caltracks. BIG Brembos and AP Racing brakes on. Front GT bar freshed up along with a darker window tint and new windscreen. Had to go 20" rims for the brake clearance so when Vertini Fashions. PWR radiator. Powerbond harmonic balancer kit. Braided lines throughout engine bay. Replaced the T51r Garrett turbo cartrage with somthing a little better. Versafuel ecm installed ready for the 1600cc injectors..... The box in the tray with the wiring coming out is for the new fuel system set up. We are going to run Methanol throughout it's veins. Have had everything ready to go in for months now like the custom fuel cell, fuel rail, 2000hp reg, speedflow fittings, braided lines and 4 Bosch 044 pumps but finding the time has been difficult until now, Dave should be tunning it within a week or 2 !! Keep you posted...
