  1. Ok. Thanks.
  2. Not sure on the fan cutin etc, but what sort of car are you after the thermostat specs for? I had an EL XR8 that had a standard thermostat set to 92 degrees c but not sure on my current car.
  3. Why are you guys so paranoid about water in the engine bay? What do you think happens when you drive in the rain? The only real thing you need to worry about is spraying high pressure water into anything. Other than that, hose away.
  4. I've always found a white car to show less dirt than a darker car. I had a white EL XR8 that showwed the least amount of all the cars I've owned. Having said that my current car isn't too bad.
  5. 26000+ and all good mate. Doesn't get driven much nowadays. I tonk around in the missus Territory. Boat gets more use than the car. lol
  6. Wouldn't ya love a quote from Lowndesy after winning Bathurst this year and getting boo'd on the podium, a la Jim Richards? That would crack me up.
  7. Injectors make a normal operting noise that could be interpreted by the inexperienced as lifter tapping?
  8. 20000kms till you use synthetic is entirely up to you, but in my opinion you don't need to wait that long. Just a hint with your gearbox oil and shifter change. I did the same thing with mine. Removed the standard shifter and fitted a Mal Wood unit. Easiest way to change the oil is drain it from the drain plug and then just refill from the big hole you will have on the top of the box when you do the shifter change. Another good thing would be to use 4L instead of the recommended 3.8L in the manual. The extra 200ml will calm the rollover noise down quite a bit. As for the turbo oil supply screen, I can't get the link to work for me at the moment, but I'm sure it will point out the right details. Hope this helps.
  9. It will depend on how you ran it in as well, but sooner rather than later would be a good idea. Also, while you're at it, remove and clean the turbo oil supply screen for good measure.
  10. How come mine spins to 6500rpm before it hits the limiter? Is there a soft cut at 6250 then hard at 6500rpm Venom?
  11. Perhaps I just have a different understanding than you.
  12. This is what you said first. I never once made reference to manifold vacuum. All I ever said was an engine will produce vacuum, as in the piston goes down on the intake stroke creating vacuum. Diesel or petrol engine.
  13. In an engine what happens on the intake stroke? Piston goes down creating a vacuum in the cylinder hence drawing air or air/fuel mix into the cylinder. Is this not vacuum?
  14. Just because there's no butterfly doesn't mean there's no vacuum. Do you know how a four stroke engine works? 'Manifold vacuum in diesel engines Many diesel engines do not have butterfly valve throttles. The manifold is connected directly to the air intake and the only suction created is that caused by the descending piston with no venturi to increase it, and the engine power is controlled by varying the amount of fuel that is injected into the cylinder by a fuel injection system. This assists in making diesels much more efficient than petrol engines. If vacuum is required (vehicles that can be fitted with both petrol and diesel engines often have systems requiring it), a butterfly valve connected to the throttle can be fitted to the manifold. This reduces efficiency and is still not as effective as it is not connected to a venturi. Since low-pressure is only created on the over-run (such as when descending hills with a closed throttle), not over a wide range of situations as in a petrol engine, a vacuum tank is fitted.' So according to this there is vacuum in a diesel.
  15. How do you figure, oh wise one?? Do you know the OP? If not, how do you know he MAY know what he's talking about? Learn some English mate. Where was it 'proved' that I have a lack of knowledge about your so called 'automobilia'? Your post is ever so constructive. If you have an issue with me and my posts take it up via pm. Not in here where you may think you look like a hero.
  16. If left unmodified and serviced regularly as per the book, there's no reason the turbo wouldn't see at least 150000kms. Just need to make sure the turbo supply screen is cleaned regularly as well. Modified, on the other hand, is anyones guess. Cost and supply wise, any reputable turbo supplier will be able to source a direct bolt on replacement for a lot less than the factory components.
  17. Glad to be of assistance.
  18. submissive
  19. cops ( stupid thing won't let me type pig s at the start of this) arse. It aint over till they defect. And who says any of the other crumbledore drivers don't take out the competitive drivers on the mountain? I hope you're speculating about next year?
  20. Unfortunately not an option as the position of the ports doesn't allow for this. I don't have a trumpet on mine. Just the blank for the trumpet port. It can sort of be seen on the l/h side of the BOV in the pic. Either way, with the trumpet port blocked and the BOV plumbed the way mine is, or the other way, it still looks neat and like it should be there.
  21. A bit 'thick' you say? Stick with your book mate. Sounds like you don't know too much about your car......
  22. blah blah blah. For all the tools that can't spell Vodafone. It's VODAFONE..........not vodaphone. morons.......... Stuff the ozzie series. I'm following Marcos in the U.S.
  23. I wonder how many engines failed before they got one to go the distance.
  24. You're not comparing apples with apples though Barnesy. BA's were a certain level. BF's a certain level. And the FG is another level again. Hence the 180-250 spread. If you're getting the BA done in your sig, I reckon you'll go anywhere from 180-200. Depending on dyno and dyno operator.
  25. This one's a bit like a double edged sword. I've seen pictures of FG XR6T engine bays with the BOV mounted in both directions. I plumbed mine the way the factory BOV was plumbed. To be honest I've tried it in both positions and can't notice any difference.
