That may be fine if you're flying to anywhere but the US....Do that on the way to Los Angeles, and you'll probably have a couple of F14's escort you in, the pilots with itchy trigger fingers, and when you land, you'll be escorted of to the unknown as a suspected terrorist, tortured, abused, threatened, and then when the US decide to release you, they will deny all knowledge. And by the way, should our American cousin 'underpsi' read this...I'm not having a go at the normal American citizen, but rather the so called president and his cronies, who single handedly has made the world a more dangerous place to live in

Welcome Scott....just watch out for Ken....:ken24t: for he has nothing worthwhile to contribute, other than...well I'm sure you will get the drift.

Thanks VG for the advice...I thought that might be the case...perhaps you can put a recommendation to your superiors..."Dob in a motorist"....all you need is provide a 1902 number, and the increased revenue will help pay for more coppers, and as a side benefit might even improve driving standards through risk of being dobbed in. Perhaps it might be time to install a video camera...Even if the police don't take an interest, I could always sell the footage to Channel 9 and make a small fortune....Don't worry T owners, I will edit any footage as appropriate
-
The law will, but can we do anything to speed up the process , like dobbing them in...afterall the tax office has a scheme....why can't the police....dob in a motorist week

Driving home yesterday afternoon along the Gore Hill Freeway towards the city at 80 kmph this little Mazda 2 door convertible sports car comes along driving like an absoloute f**king moron. He undertook me, using the oncoming slip road at speeds in excess of the speed limit, before moving out to the far right and trying to overtake other cars, again using the oncoming slip road (you know where you join the freeway from Royal North Shore), before realising he had run out of slip road, slammed on his brakes, pulled back into lane 2 and nearly caused a pile up. This continued all the way to North Sydney with the guy weaving in and out of traffic....(personally I think he got lost on the GumBall 3000 race). At times like this, I wish I was a copper as I would have pulled him over and done him for - Driving without due care and attention - Speeding - Failing to indicate - Reckless endagerment and whatever else I could book him for so he would loose his license. Unfortunately I'm not a policeman, and there weren't any about...damn ...there is never a copper when you need / want one. The question is, can we as the ordinary public report instances like this to the police. I'm sure we can, but what would the police do, in the abscence of corresponding witnesses etc...as it would be my word against theirs. Would reports be lodged against their driving record, so if the police received 20 complaints over a 12 month period then they would investigate further ? What if your allegation could be substantiated through a video recording of the incident, ie a camera of sorts mounted on the dash or in front of rear view mirror. Again would the police act on this type of information, or would we just be wasting my time. Don't worry folks, I don't want to become an enforcer of the law, but in yesterday's situation, he put my T at risk through his dangerous driving, and that is something which seriously pi**ses me off. I'm sure we have all seen a classic example of driving we would all like to report Pym

Driver education is all well and good, but how often do you learn something only to forget about it in 12 months time. I'm not against driver education as a pre-requisite for obtaining your licence, whether it be P or full, however this must be supplemented by enforcement of the road rules / law, as it will serve as a constant reminder to all motorists to adhere to the road rules....break them and you get penalised. Nothing worse than getting hit in the back pocket with a fine, to keep you focused on your driving.

My turn ?....don't shoot me, for this is just my personal opinion. I HATE tax cuts. Sure I could do with some extra money in my pay packet, but the government has to try and balance the books. Let's say that the cost to the government of managing the country is $50 Billion / year (ie Police / Health / Education / Public transport etc). Let's say, that with the tax cuts, this only produces an income of $45 Billion / year. Where is the government going to get the money ?. Basically it isn't, unless they increase in-direct taxation, speed cameras () Alternatively, they cut essential services. Do we really want to live in society where you have to wait 18 months for a hip transplant, no old-aged care, where crime pays because there just aren't enough police to investigate....long gone are the days of where police will investigate a normal burglary...they just give you a police report, so you can claim of insurance. I don't necssarily agree with the current method of taxation, however I for one will be willing to pay increased taxes, as long as we knew that the increased revenue goes back into the services which we all use. Put more police back on the street, reduce hospital waiting lists, pay our teaches and nurses and police the salary they deserve. Back in England, one county council INCREASED local taxes in order to put police back on the beat. It was a real pleasure to see policeman walking down the street....This acts as a deterrent through increased visibility....and you know what....the residents love it. As for how to tax, this should be done through a GST type arrangement. If you want to spend 10000 on a new plasma TV screen, fine, but you should pay a higher tax, therefore you are targetting the high spendors...and who are normally the high spendors ?...the high income earners.... INCREASE TAXES...whoever has the balls to do this, will get my vote

JB - Excellent...hopefully you leaving you make Ford sit up and take notice, so the remaining owners will all benefit from better service...thanks for your consideration.... In all honesty, it will be a shame to see you jump ship. I just hope that whatever you decide to do you will have a better experience.

Personally speaking, I think that any un-scheduled trips back to the dealers is unacceptable, however in this day and age, it is something that we have to live with. As long as you're treated with respect and courtesy, then the majority of the time we accept it. The only times is when you get given the cold shoulder / brush off, which just comes down to poor service, and I will admit that this is getting worse every day. No-one likes to take ownership of fixing problems for the customer, as staff are all under pressure, and may not have the support of their management or FORD....why ?...well FORD have to make a profit and satisfy their shareholders, so what goes - customer satisfaction. The only way it will get better is if we vote with our feet and go to a competitor....., but that will never happen, because we all love our Ts.

I have the answer to road-rage....quite simple really....use your f**king indicators.

Thanks Ken....Good to be home....as for the flight I don't know which is worse....Sydney to London, or Sydney to Boston....and I've got a Boston trip coming up again at the end of May....yuk. Oh well, can't complain with the frequent flyer miles...

I was never going to count them ... can't believe someone actually did? Sad on you Ken....If you really thought I would actually count them, then this topic has gone way off topic  I have far better things to do, than count smilies, especially 6 times...but then if I had internet access at 36000 feet it would have been a great way to waste 24 hrs travelling back from London....Yippee I'm home
-
Total of 182...and I've counted 6 times....and I can't even add my own smiley :-(
