  1. These are great photo's. Phantom is a difficult colour to photograph accurately but to do it so well under artifical light like this is well done. Car looks awesome (and familiar)
  2. Bane, l reckon white is a good choice, muscular cars look good in white. Taxi's dont!
  3. Nice photo' Chris, especially the shots under lights. Great looking car as if you didnt already know that
  4. Congratulatiosn Robbo, We got our Phantom XR6T a week ago, love the colour and so do a lot of other people judging by their reactions. If the dealer reckons its the Momo, does that mean they have charged you an extra 700 odd for it? Youre gonna love it B)
  5. Name: Simon Age: 33 sex m/f: male Location city/state: Sale, Vic. Occupation: Operations Supervisor (Oil Industry) Currently drive: BA XR6T with all the good stuff! Married: Yep with 3 sprogs
  6. l too have noticed this Grant, it does break traction more easily than l would have expected. l hadnt had the car 5 minutes driving home from the dealer in the wet before l broke traction and l wasnt pushing it that hard, but when the torque comes in the TC doesnt seem to intervene in a way l expected, and probably should.
  7. Not the pail trap again... Someone posted on this last week as it held there car up also. l believe it is some sort of cowling that goes under the engine to trap oil leaks etc.
  8. l've been a car nut ever since l got my licence and have always loved aussie muscle cars. X-U1 Torana followed by an A9X hatch and sedan, then went Japanese for a while with an MX-5, then Verada (well partially japanese). We bought a TS-50 about 2 years ago, it was a great car, but when l heard that Ford was working on a turbo 6 the seed was planted. When l found out more info, read reviews and seen pics, well that was it, l was sold. Hot sixes are awesome, the X-U1 has always been my favourite car. Now l am married with 3 young kids; the XR6T lets me have my cake and eat it too - to coin a phrase
  9. Well, it looks similar as they use the same central cover, but its thicker and a lot more sculptured and comfortable. Remember its your connection with the car so adds to the driving experience, well l reckon anyway. The dealer recommended black with the phantom and it looks great, l would stick with the black rather than grey.
  10. Good news Edge, that hasnt happened too often on this forum You want to hit your dealer up for a momo fitted by them at the same price as the factory one. We got the momo, l agree its a lot of money, but its great, adds to the feel of the car and is very comfortable and of great quality.
  11. We live in country Victoria, l'm 33, my wife 27 and it cost us $467 comprehensive with the RACV, even cheaper than what we were quoted when we first ordered the car. l am very happy with that, nearly half of what the TS50 cost.
  12. Well l guess it comes down to how much is acceptable. l think its significant, not enough to put me off the manual by a long shot, just more than l would have liked in a car where just about everything else is spot on.
  13. Hhmmm...maybe be there is something up with my car. l kind of hope there is, as its something l find annoying and it would be good to get rid of it. Let me know if you do notice it, but if you havent so far then it cant be a problem with your car, having already done 1000km you would have felt it at some point.
  14. Hi Grant, l agree with your thoughts. We went for the manual and picked it up on Saturday. One word, wicked!! My only concern with the car is driveline lash, our car seems to have some slack in the driveline that makes it hard sometimes to change gears smoothly. Have you noticed this at all in your car? Maybe mine has a problem that needs looking at?

    FPV Ute

Love those alloys, now they are what l would want on a GT if l were buying one.

    Interior

We got the phantom cloth, and l think it looks wonderful. l was concerned that it may have been a bit lairy, but once l seen it l knew we made the right decision. It goes great with the dash, and silver highlights used. Suits the 'personality' of the car l reckon. Different strokes for different folks
  17. Very witty Dave, l hope you dont get your finger nails plucked.....by a Expensive Daewoo fanatic

    Ford Credit

Yep, l used them for a short time when we were between houses and so didnt have a morgtage to use as security. Once we bought a house, we had the bank use our house as security and setup a seperate loan number (for tax purposes). We could this way get the money at 6% instead of 9%. If you refinance Ford Credit will hit you with early repayment fees also. But there ok, l didnt have any problems with them.

    Got It At Last

Yep, l feel like a lucky lucky bastard. l have never heard a V8 that sounds anywhere as good as the XR6T, the noise it makes just makes you wanna drive and drive to nowhere in particular. l just went for a run earlier to check out the night dash illumination/headlights and ended up doing 50km. And yes the blue dash lighting is impressive and the headlights as good as everyone says. These cars dont have many weak areas, that's for sure.

    Alarm Systems

Yeah, l dont think you will see much if any discount. Insurance companies are over alarms. We put a $1500 alarm system in our new house when we built it and the insurance company didnt want to know about it unless we had it monitored at $1/day! To get a premium reduction on your car you probably have to install one of those monitored tracking systems where the cars engine can be remotely shutdown if stolen. Probably cost you thousands and save you $50 a year on your premiums

    Xr6t Really 250kw!

I find that hard to believe. Guess we have to wait and see what the real figures are. Why would it be incorrect though? Why would they say its only 240KW and then later say 250KW? I dont get it Me neither. Ford go on about ISO/quality standards and accurate power measurements done to global standards, how could they then come out and say oh we meant 250, not 240.

    Got It At Last

Thanks guys, Yep, its awesome and exceeded my probably high expectations. l cannot believe the throttle response, and the sound of the engine when it hits 4000 is just wild. l am only using light throttle and its still hauls, cant wait until l have a couple of thousand on the clock and l can really see what it can do.

    Xr6t Really 250kw!

l wonder how they could get this wrong. Seems a little suss. Could it be a marketing move designed to really put the blowtorch on Holden/HSV?
  24. You probably will be able to change it provided Ford have stock. l think its in excess of a grand to have a dealer fit it later, and who wants to have them rooting around with the steering column on a new car if you can avoid it?
  25. I drove a XR6T with it, and it felt great. But I love thick wheels. Some people might not. The contour shape feels awesome. Just sitting in the yard, I couldn't take my hands of it... l was of the opinion that $700 was too much until the day l went to order our XR6T and got the opportunity to fondle the Momo on an XR in the yard. It was great, really improved the feel of the car. Suddenly $700 seemed reasonable, so we went for it. Now that we have the car, l am glad we went ahead. It is the connection with the car, and contributes to the driving experience. Well worth it.
