OIL CHANGE

Reason for this Topic I beleive a lot of people will be changing there oil twice a year as 12 months is to long for only one oil change in a turbo. So one will be done by the service centre and the other done by the owner.

Here it goes

First Oil change generally done before 6 months other links suggest sticking to mineral oil like the gtx3 15w - 40 for running in and changing to synthetics after 10,000 or so.

So the question goes what is the best way to drain and replace the oil (ie) when engine is Hot, car on ramps,type of oil filter (Ryco/Valvoline is it a Z9 like all the other falcons). What shouldn`t you do that you`ve seen someone do.

I know there are other oil links but if we can use what we`ve learnt from them here would be good to.

Is gtx 3 good enough or is there a better mineral oil?

when you take your car for a oil change not just the oil and filter is changed but the car gets checked over by a trianed eye for other faults if any.as for the oil filter yes its a z9 and oil type well that's pesonal prefrence but you should stick to oil visc 15-40w

Do not believe every thing the dealer tells and I leave it at that.

Change oil when warm as this removes more of the deposits that are in the oil.

Z9 is the part number.

I have used penrite 10 tenths synthetic since 2000 km no oil problems at all.

Definately bring motor up to operating temperature then change oil and filter, ramps are OK.

Recommended to me is to use Castrol Magnatec, agree change oil regulary to remove crud from motor, especially turbos.

15000 K's is to long between changes.

the service book says every 15000 km or 12 months what ia m saying is I would change the oil twice instead of once as per service.

I am not a novice as having swapeed engines an other mechanicals but as they say theres always someone who knows a better way :lol:

Would change oil at 5000 K's myself or if you dont do K's definately at least twice a year.

Regardless of using Mineral or Synthetic, as both types of oil still collect crud from motor.
