December 14, 200619 yr I noticed that my right rear tyre was a bit soft today. What is the optimal tyre pressure for stock tyres (17")?
December 14, 200619 yr 45 front, 42 rear for track work.41 front, 37 rear for ocassional twisty drives and highway comfort.40 front, 36 year for more comfort, but not as good handling.

December 14, 200619 yr I can vouch for 41 on the fronts, I've had it at the placard pressures and after a run through some twisties the tyre wall was scrubbed. Any higher and road noise increases.
December 15, 200619 yr between 38-40 all round.I dont subscribe to the notion that the rears should be inflated less than the front, it doesnt quite make sense to me. if someone can explain this to me Im happy to adopt it, otherwise I dont get it.I just checked out the Bridgestone, Goodyear and Beaurepaire websites and none of them mention anything about inflating fronts more than rears. Front tyres carry more load, esp under braking, and do more turning, they will heat up more naturally, the gas inside will expand thus increasing the pressure.im guessing if ya rears are less inflated than the fronts u might be prone to more oversteer Edited December 15, 200619 yr by TurboDewd
December 15, 200619 yr I run 42 in the fronts and 38 in the rears but with 18's. If I run too high pressures in the rears you get quite a bit more difficulty getting traction and makes the back end squirm around alot more under hard cornering.
December 15, 200619 yr Hey Cro are those pressure, taken when the tyres are hot or cold?Scotty←I'd use those as cold figures and add 10% if the tyres are warm. On my new 35 series rubber I'll be running 42 front 40 rear cold, as I did on my commodore. Ride was still good given my suspension setup.
December 15, 200619 yr that's a sh*t load of PSI, here I was thinking 40 PSI cold for a skid pan day was extreme.Normally 36 cold or 38 hot allround.Scotty
