How Do We Remove The Icc?

hi im thinking of doing the gauges install with a friend of mine, alot of you guys are saying we dont need to remove the icc but wouldn't it be alot easier if we did. also would it be better to source from the power source (it seems to have a light in it). if its better to source from the tc switch, then would it be easier if the dash cluster was removed?

ive taken out all the screws (5 in total that I could see). but I dont know what to do next. the bottom bit seems loose, but the top seems to be clicked into something

Removing the ICC is an easy 15 minute job.

1) remove gear selector surround

2) Locate 2 selp tappers holding the 2 trim panels on each side of the console

3) Remove trim panels

4) Remove tissue box holder

5) Remove triangular panel at top of ICC (it needs to be lifted at the edge closest to the windscreen, and it will then pop out)

4) remove single screw at top of ICC

5) Unplug 4 plugs and antenna under the ICC (a small mirror and a flashlight may be needed to see what you are doing)

6) Remove 4 x 8mm hex head screws (2 each side of the ICC)

7) Pull ICC out and store in safe place (do not turn upside down or bump hard)

Fitting is reverse of above.

There is no time limit. I have mine out for bout an hour, and it was still fine.

is it hard to pull out? I can grip it from the bottom, but the plastic under the triangular cover seems pretty weak, im scared of snapping it. does it simply slide out or do we need to exert reasonable force?

A little force is required initially to release the ICC from the connector at the back, but then it should slide out pretty easily.

You dont need to remove the ICC to install some pod gauges.

Ive got the luxo pack so I had a clock already there to feed the power and dimmer to the gauges.

I still had to run a vacuum tube and it didnt take long with the lower trim around the icc and centre console removed to find an opening. Its best to start at the top at the pod opening and jiggle the vac tube down towards the driver's side until it appears. Once this is done you can tape the gauge wires to the tube and the end of the tube together (in a loop) and pass them down.
