Does anyone see any issues with this method of lifting the car, especially using the front of the K-frame as a jack point? Also, is there a better way to avoid damaging the surface while still safely getting both jack stands onto the proper hard points?

If you are worried about leaving any marks, you could put something between the surface of the jack and the kframe (eg rag, rubber mat, wood),- just make sure that what you use does not affect safety while the car is being lifted. 1
