Kayhan stereo in ford XR6 fg turbo

Hi all,

 

I installed a Kayhan stereo for my ford XR6 fg turbo and after I installed it all seem fine, until 1 day my battery died and then the stereo never seem the same again. When I turn on the car it shows the Kayhan logo followed by the android logo then after that black screen. I mean the unit is on but just black screen and occasionally it will work but most of the time it doesn’t. Does anyone else have this same issue with there Kayhan unit or even if anyone can share some light if it’s the wiring or something else. Thanks!

sounds like an issue with Kayhan... I'd be making a warranty claim, if I were in your position.

It does sound like it would be a fault with the Kayhan unit, but there are a couple of things I can think of to try as well.

 

Sometimes cars do weird things when the battery is on the way out.

It was a long time ago now, but I had an AU that would crank over fine (so you would think that means the battery is fine), but had an issue (I can not remember exactly what the issue was any more - maybe error lights on the dash) that was solved when the battery was changed.  I can not explain why, but the new battery was the solution.

 

If the wiring has not changed, it seems unlikely to be the wiring, but you could try taking the unit out and powering it directly from the battery to test if it works then, to rule out the wiring.

Have you already checked the battery voltage under load, not just at rest?
And have you tried a direct battery feed to the Kayhan unit to see if the issue disappears completely?

Modern head units like a Kayhan Audio head unit can behave oddly when voltage dips, even if the car still cranks normally. A weak battery or unstable supply can definitely cause strange resets, module dropouts, or feature failures without obvious warning.

Testing it directly from the battery is a good isolation step. If it behaves normally when hard-wired, you’ve effectively ruled out both the unit itself and software issues, and you’re left with supply wiring, grounding, or voltage stability under load.

You are making some very good points about batteries/voltage and troubles, but why is there a gambling reference and what appears to be a link to a casino added to what is supposed to be a quote from me?

That sounds like a classic software corruption or boot loop issue triggered by the low voltage when the battery died, which happens a lot with those Android units if they lose power mid-boot or during a write cycle.

First thing I'd check is the main power and accessory fuses, and make sure your battery is actually holding a solid charge now—if it's dropping low during cranking, the unit will boot up, see a voltage drop, and crash to a black screen. If the battery and connections are all good, try pulling the negative terminal for about 10-15 minutes to do a proper hard reset on the head unit.

If it's still stuck looping past the logos into a black screen after that, the launcher or system partition on the Android side might be corrupted, and you'll likely need to reach out to Kayhan support to get the correct firmware flash file for your specific board version to reinstall it via USB.

That sounds good.

You might also want to push the power button on the unit, while the car battery is disconnected, which should ensure that all power in the head unit is "used up" to make sure it does start completely from scratch.

If none of what I previously said works, you might also want to check the reset pinhole on the front panel—if the unit has one, holding it down with a paperclip while the ignition is on can sometimes force a hardware-level recovery or factory wipe that brings it out of the boot loop.
