Hi guys, I’ve owned my FG turbo for a while now. Recently I’ve started making a little more and switched to putting 98 octane in the tank. There’s been a noticeable increase in responsiveness and power, which has been nice and it’s making me wonder if it’s been dyno tuned for it. The car has an intake and battery relo, bigger intercooler, and exhaust. As for injectors, turbo, and fuel system I assume it’s stock. The previous owner never mentioned it being tuned, and given the mods made by the owner before him I’m starting to bet it has been, likely on 98. My question therefore is whether or not the year I’ve run it on 91 has caused any damage. Other articles say that cars designed to run on 98 from the manufacturer can experience knocking and premature combustion, but obviously stock falcons are designed to run on cheap fuel. I’ve kept it regularly serviced, but is there a chance I’ve caused some amount of long term damage running it on 91 for the last 40000 kilometres?

Thanks.

Pretty sure the handbook says 98 recommended, 95 is OK, 91 emergency only, or something to that effect, and that's factory tune.

Both the I6 Turbo and Boss 290 will run on 91RON without ill effect, says Ford.

Good news then for the OP if it's a virgin PCM.

Now just to find out if there is a tune in there???
