Guys as you know we have had a heap of problems with the current photo gallery, mainly due to the integration and the fact that it was the only photo gallery integrated with this forum software on the market at the time.

However a new version has come out, proper integration and made by the same company. Only problem is though that it does not have the ability to import our current gallery so we would lose all the photos.

The new gallery has alot more features, and we wont have the problems we have now with the current gallery.

The current gallery creates numerous temp files which slow down the server, the database it does not use the database the way it should and is very resource hungry. The newer one fixes all these problems.

What are your views on this? Interested to know.

Thanks in Advance

Daz,

You go through and save all the pics you like to your harddrive and then you can re-load 'em on the new gallery

Chris,

I don't have any pics in there so doesn't worry me!

New Gallery was purchased yesterday. Have created a dev board, will test new version of the forum and gallery on this. Then we can transfer across when tested fully.

Last thing i want is alot of problems when it transfers across!

It will be a shame to lose all the old photos, but the new gallery has alot of features that sound really good and if people had really good pix im sure they will re load them, will the cruises and event be loaded up again?

Can we leave the old gallery up and give the members some time (a week ?) to get their pictures off before switching over to the new one ?

The old gallery is crap, but despite this I think I have downloaded almost every pic on it....perhaps that's why it had so many drama's... :nuts2:
