Stealing a Lexus??? What a loser!

Stealing a Monaro - OK a little better ....

I'd rather steal a lexus over a two door Late model camira anyday.

My wifes MY03 rex and my Sti both have anti-hijacking mode (standard with car).

Once thieves drive off the car will cut out in around 30 seconds.

Sometimes it's annoying, but is is a good security feature.

Say what BCL? More information please, cost suppliers etc would be muchly appreciated. Perth is quickly following Sydney and Melbourne as Australia endeavours to continue down the same path of social destruction. WA now boast the highest ratio of youth riots and burglaries in the lucky country. Yesterdays paper was blurbing on about putting location bracelets on repeat and bad offenders. I need one of these doodads for the GT. Do you have to punch in a code or something to over ride an auto cutout

I first saw one of these alarms on a friends 98 sti. The way it worked was if the door was opened or seat belt was removed before the ignition was turned off then the car would shut down after a set time. A pin code had to be entered to stop the car from shutting down or to restart the car. This was introduced by Subaru to stop peoples cars from being hijacked while waiting at traffics lights.

I'm not sure of the maker of the alarm because they are factory fitted.

The Brandt alarm is keypad based.

Sorry, I don't know cost, as it comes with the car as standard.

To start the car you must first enter a 4-digit pin code whilst the key is turned to ignition. I think 3 aborted attempts, and you will be locked out completely.

"Anti-hijack" mode is triggered when the driver's seatbelt is connected and then disconnected and any door, including the boot, is opened. After 40 seconds you get 5 seconds worth of warning beeps before the car cuts out. The car will be restartable for about 5 and then 10 seconds before the car finally refuses to start again until you punch in your pin number again.

There is a "Valet mode" that temporarily disables anti-hijack during the period of Valet mode being active only.

There may be other alarms that offer a similar function.

Sorry that's all I know.

Ive heard of one where you have ,like a bankcard, keep that in your wallet, bag whatever. The car wont start without this card being 50 meters or closer;the idea is if get car jacked the car will stop 50 meters down the road with the crooks in it.

Or parked somewhere it wont start if your not around.
