Hi guys. I have a question. I own an XR6 Turbo with an (a-r50 - <- wL->5) Turbo. it has recently decided to stop working, so I bought a new turbo and was told it would just bolt on. The new turbo says its (t04E - T3/t4).

As we went to swap them, we realised the old turbo is water cooled as well as oil cooled. The new one isn't. Is there a way to fit the new one? and if not, is it possible to use the internals out of the new turbo for the old casing? Thanks in advance.

Your info is pretty vague... But you can remove and block the water lines, plenty of turbos are oil only

Where did you buy the new turbo ?

What model car ?

I bought the turbo off gumtree. The guy bought it for his BF but never put it on. But said it will definitely fit.

I've got the BA 2005 xr6 turbo ute.

So you're saying I can block the water lines and just run it without? how would I do that?

Thanks for your time!!

I can't install the new turbo because it will sit about 2inches higher, which means the exhaust would need to be modified etc. but can I just use the bearing carrier assembly out of the new turbo and fit it into my old turbo?

starting see why "he said he never fit it" I think is BS and he did and found the same problem your having.

Ring him back and tell him youre returning it because it doesnt fit full refund.

Thanks for the advice. I've ordered a new core for my old turbo. I think the problem is whoever owned my car before me had a large exhaust installed and it has changed the room I had previously for a turbo. All is good, as long as the turbo rebuild goes well!

Thanks again
