05/02/04 11:12 AM05/02/04 11:12 AM #1 After a bit of reluctance I finally decided to get the Blaupunkt BA interface and incar DVD installed. When I took it to get installed, it was the first BA interface they installed, but after a few phone calls, due to lack of reasonable documentation the Incar DVD was installed without a hitch. With the Blaupunkt DVD player I decided to add a 7" roof mount monitor aswell. Unfortunatly the sound isn't true 5.1 yet, but I will remedy that in the future. As far as sound in incar DVD, the premium sound system sure does love movies. I swear that the stock subby loved it even more than I thought it would, literally making the car vibrate in the most bass intensive scenes. The DVD player used was a Blaupunkt DVD-ME2 (apparently a newish model). It supports DVD/VCD/MP3 etc. If you have the extra change and like TV, get the ME3 which has inbuilt TV tuner. It hasn't got any flip face of any sort, just a slot for the DVD and a few buttons and a small digital display. One feature I love is the from mounted RCA audio and video inputs which is easily utilized. I tested it by get one of my many 2.4Ghz video/audio recievers and watched some foxtel in the car (using an extension lead to power the reciever). Future goal is to install a 12v to 230/240v inverter with a normal wall socket type plug, so I can plug in a playstation 2 for the long trips. Another thing I liked was the equalizer on the DVD player. Certainly makes the premium sound in the car sound that much beefy and clearer. Thanks to fords decision to add IR as standard on premium sound vehicles (most likely due to sat nav) on the console, you can't even tell that anything has been added and it all looks factory. Nice and neat.Another addition was a 7" widescreen roof mount screen. Dunno the brand, but I am very happy with the quality of it.Anyways, I've only had the incar dvd in stalled for a few hours and I seem to be spending more time in the car just watching bits of dvd's and not driving at all. Now I just have to convince my brother to drive me around so I can watch the thing here is a pic

05/02/04 11:23 AM05/02/04 11:23 AM #3 Well done Krash. Start filling her up with MP3 cd's. 250odd songs to a cd. Also, Its cool to make up Music Video disks too...............mmmm Metallica Live! I know what you mean with the AV inputs. I ran an extension lead to my car the first day I got it installed and hooked up the X-box. Where did they mount your dvd player? Mine is under the seat. Who did you get to install it? Not the (unamed installer) I hope, lol. Anyway, I got the new Performance Ford magazine and noticed the Red XR6T has a DASH mounted dvd player where the tissue box was(I knew this could be possible) and the screen up where the fairmont clock/boost guage goes. Might consider moving mine.Cheers,Rob

I actually told the bloke behind the desk that tugger's burnt one BA owner already and boy did they want to be helpful. I think they actually installed the bits they got for you. "These bits were going to be installed in the XR of an unhappy customer in tuggers" I already have heaps of MP3 disks (used it in the Pulsar SSS I used to have) and I am preying that I get adsl very soooooon.. waiting, waiting, waiting.I also have a bunch of music DVD's (Iron Maiden LIVE, Kiss LIVE, Motley Crue LIVE etc etc). May even tape some MTV and the like, grab it on my computer then put it on some DVD-R's The install was under the passenger seat for the player and driver seat for the blaupunkt video/audio convertor whatever thingy. The player is easily excessible from the driver seat, when the passenger seat is all the way back. The player was put in on a slight angle though, but that ain't no real drama. They also offered a in console install if I wanted, but that involved cutting bits of the console, down at the tissue box area. They use a flipdown faced dvd player for that.Oh yeah, just got offered a 12v to 230/240v invertor to try from a friend. Dunno if it'll have the power for the playstation2 though, but I guess I'll give it a try in the next few days.

OK, here it is,-Blaupunkt DVD Player was $999-The signal convertor (has 4 video/audio inputs and outputs) and interface about $500-Install for that was $200So basically $1699 when installed using the BA screen.- The 7" Roof mount screen was $799 and $100 installed. - Also had to add $89 for specific cabling for the floor mounting. All up $2687The BA screen is quite good. sometimes fine text is hard to see, but overall I was impressed. The colour seem good aswell. Nice, full and rich. Certainly a better quality than I was expecting.
