I'm going to be swapping my built ZF transmission out of a 2010 xr into a 08 xr replacing the stock ZF.

Will I need to replace the mechatronics unit over? Is there any other problems I will encounter?

Thanks

I swapped my zf over a while ago and swapped the valvebody and mechatronics as one. To remove the valvebody you have to undo the 10 I think torx bolts with the bigger heads, the entire valvebody and mechatronics will now lift straight out.

you can also seperate the mecahtronics from the valvebody and swap the mechatronics over to the old valvebody which is what I ended up doing later down the track.

Thanks for the reply!

How big of a job would it be to just transfer the mechatronics into the valve body?

30mins? 4 hours?

Thanks!

Hmmm!

Another question,

If I just swapped the 2010 ecu into the 08, would it eliminate that issue? Or would it then not communicate properly with other modules?

Both XR6T with same factory options premium sound etc

Yes and Correct about issues with other modules. But that is relatively easy to fix for somebody with the gear.

You can reuse the oil if it was replaced recently. Pulling the mechatronics unit also gives you the opportunity to clean metal filings off your iss, oss sensors as well as all the contacts on the unit. Filings on the shaft sensors can affect readings in the long term. The write up old mate has done in that pdf is quite good. Albeit for a bmw.

Sorry bout double post been to long to edit.

Just realised what you said about same options. Swap it all. Job done. Then its just a case of getting the tune from one pcm to the other.

Thanks Barnz.

We've gone with just throwing the trans in as is (only 35k old and built to handle more power inc replacing solenoids only 5k or so ago, so doubt much wear has occurred)

We've obtained info from someone who works at ford who said if we swap the ecu and pcm it should be sweet.

Fingers crossed :)
