Hey guys some helpful info on reinstalling a zf.

Does the input shaft have to line back up with the torque converter. ?

the convertor needs to be fitted into the box first and yes it has to line up

Vitally important the convertor is fully seated before installing the engine/box. Measure the height of the flex plate above the block and ensure the distance between the front face of the convertor and the trans bell housing is greater than that. You need to line up the stator splines and then the pump drive lugs as the convertor goes in.

If you don't you risk damaging the convertor/box/pump.
