Hi everyone I'm having some issues with my 6 speed manual. It is an 09 xr6t ute.

When changing from 1st to 2nd it is hesitant and ever so slightly grinds. The best way ive found around this is to slowly pull the gear knob from first gear into neutral for a short time and then into second (if that makes sense).

The ute had 8000kms when I bought it and changed all fluids straight away. I used castrol transmax z. Now has 27000kms but has done it ever since I purchased the vehicle.

Any advice is appreciated cheers.

It's ok. Plenty if FGs do it. Notchy shiftys aswell don't help.

Yes its worse when cold but still there when warmed up. I'm going to try mainlube gear oil at 30000km and see how that goes.

One of the pleasures and pain of owning a manual. Never had 6060 box but had t56 and the noises, clunks, bangs & roll over that came out of that box. So in short it's normal.

Ive owned a few t56 but none have been like this, I don't think its normal, all the other gears are fine just second.

It's normal, also comes down to how you drive, if you give it heaps the oil will go off quicker.

I'm going to do a oil change next week will let you know if it helps or not.

He will be using the Factory Dex3... But will put 4.8ltrs in not the 4.5lts. Others have done that and it helps.

Someone may have royally buggered up a gear change in the first 8000km and buggered the synchros in second gear.

Hard to tell without driving the car and hearing the noise of course.
