Compliance Plate Issues

Anyone out ther who has had accident in their XR?

I was asked by my assessor after the ute was keyed "Has ford recalled the car to replace the compliance stickers?" (I.e. replace with traditional metal plates)

I looked at him kinda strange and he said that they have had problems when new fords are damaged and the compliance stickers are removed (and damaged in acordance with their design) from the engine bay for the repairs that ford will not replace the compliance stickers. Hence leaving you with a vehicle that is technically non compliant.

Has anyone out there heard of this before or experienced the same.

Never heard of that one before. :( I was under the impression that all vehicles had to have solid compliance plates.

I only have stickers on top of the drivers wheel arch/ suspension housing. Do you have metal plates.

You are right Yoda, see what happens if you get pulled up and your crappy compliance sticker has come adrift from heat or whatever, could be big drama. Obviously this is something else FMC don't give a sh!t about.

We had a crashed XR8 at work recently, it needed a new rail and skirt.

What we were told is this:

The customer (not the dealer or the repairer) is to Ring 13 FORD, and Ford will send out a letter of compliance.

ONCE AGAIN, DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER! THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD.

Hey Hypnodoc, no need to get testy about it until we find out what the go is. I haven't got my T yet but will be asking a few Q's after reading all the stuff in these forums.

Perhaps plonky can help out here, and I'm not being testy. But FORS and FEDERAL LAW states that all vehicles must be fitted with a COMPIANCE PLATE (not a shonky plastic sticker) to show that that vehicle meets ADR standards. If the Jap importers have to spend small fortunes for car mods and compliance plate approval, why should FMC get any special favours. Maybe they think the cars won't last as long as a metal compliance plate (some certainly don't appear to be).

The smash repairer who is fixing up the "kangaroo dent" on my T next week made the same observation while putting the repair quote together. Apparently all the new 2003 Fords have stickers instead of plates and it's a major pain in the ass to get replacement stickers if you need them. All just to save a few bucks on a piece of metal and a stamping machine....

Yoda I hope that you get a good one when your car arrives, but fork out plenty for a dud and see how you feel, and beleive me even though most of the dealerships would obviously like to help with problems, they are not magicians either. too many tempermental electronic doo dads for sustain reliability I think. I don't think I'm whinging, I like to call it constructive negativitism
