Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone is using the HDI kit below

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HDI-HYBRID-X01-R-FRONT-MOUNT-INTERCOOLER-KIT-FORD-FALCON-BA-BF-XR6-F6-TYPHOON-/310651346916?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4854435fe4

If so do they go alright? Would they cause overboost without tune? Are these the cheapest they go for or is there cheaper place?

Any info appreciated

Cheers

Dear Aaron

Thanks for your message that looks like a BA intercooler kit Hdi intercooler kit is not the cause of overboosting, standard intercooler kit has 6 psi restriction HDi X01-R is a very high flow intercooler which reduce lots of the restriction, the best option is to tune it first and then change the intercooler kit to get the maximum performance.

any question please let us know

thanks

yes, doesnt the fact that it is less restriction mean that it WILL possibly cause overboost?

seems pretty common sense to tune with all the hardware on the car already.

When restriction is removed the boost will raise , then the boost sensor will pick it up , and the computer will make adjustment to reduce the boost.

however every engine may have different VE and if the boost adjustment is over the factory parameter it will light up the engine light.

and yes you can tune after all the hardware goes on as well that is for custom tune .

most of the flash tuning device are using preset parament for most of the car therefore. you can remove lots of limiter before putting the intercooler kit in too .

hdi are your kits tube and fin or bar and plate? anyone know what type rapids is? I know PW is bar and plate

interesting read:

The Core Issue
One thing the Banks Power engineers have learned is that extruded-tube intercoolers work better in real-life setups, because space constraints require intercoolers to be placed in front of the engine’s radiator. Bar and plate intercooler cores have been shown to restrict flow through the radiators, which can cause the engine computer to reduce fueling (and performance), due to a lack of cooling. Another element of the intercooler that restricts flow is the cooling fins between the core tubes because of how tightly they are packed. While more fins equals more cooling, it also means less air can flow through for use by the engine and its heat exchangers. As Banks put it, “make the intercooler too efficient, and it ends up being totally selfish, starving the rest of the cooler pack, which needs air, causing those systems to overheat.”
