well, you wouldnt think it, but yes, there was a GT head (just one side) on an XR8 at work a while back, some people out there are prob thinkin "whats the big prob with that" but they have diff valve or cylnder sizes, and it throws the timing out...

I know that ford did this to 2 cars by accident, and they put out a notice about it to all the ford dealerships, just wondering, where about was the other one, anyone here that works at a dealership know where the other was? or if it went to thier dealership, just curious (I think it was in vic that it was found, but that's just a wild hunch)

BTW, im located at Temora NSW.

Geez...gave me a scare for a minute...I thought you were talking about head-on collision between XR8 and GT.

After our visit to the FPV factory, dont Ford test all their 260/290 motors? They have to meet certain specifications or else they are put in the "sick bay".....

Maybe two slipped through?

Could you tell the difference just by looking at it?

im not sure, cant remember, but im guessing not, cause the mechos did about 2 weeks of testing, unknown what the prob was, but when they rang up FMC they told FPV and they knew straight away what it was.... (they's already found the first one so they were just waiting for the call)

well what happens when you rego a car?

you have to test that everything that needs to be working in the car, this means a short test drive... and the mecho's have obviously found that it wasnt performing/running well

I thought the bare head was the same? The cams and cam cradles are different, and the different compression comes from different pistons.

wbt56, I very well doubt it was just the bare head, cause there was somthing wrong mechanically when it was driven
