If its locked to the ECU/PCM and the VIN of the car, it will take a lot of ingenuity to crack it. It will be harder as well if they've altered the looms and other wiring. 1

Might be a completely different program and loom to the new one.Like it would be easier to bring the rest of the car to the ecu than the ICC to the old ecu

No real functionality updates to the 2008 level software, just some stability stuff. Dealers are the only ones who can do it (apart from the right people from ford hehe).There is no way currently to get anything MkII (software or hardware) in a mkI ICC wise.
