My Fg2 Ute Gets Some Big Boots And Looks Beaut (See What I Did There?)

I got my new wheels fitted yesterday.

Koya Maya 20 x 8.5 front with 245x35 Falkens on the front and 20 x 10's with 285x35 on the back.

Also fitted were kings SSL's at the front and 2" blocks in the rear.

The ride is firmer now which is okay but the back shudders around a bit on sharper bumps.

I think I might get the springs reset and remove the blocks but I'll see how it goes for the moment.

Ideally, it would bury the tyres up into the guards but I need to use this ute for carrying stuff so I think this height will be it.

I'm also considering changing to a BFII tailshaft because I havent seen anything difinitive about the CV issue being resolved in later FG's.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

Also, who can tell me where to buy those clip on covers for the reece hitch bizzo ?

Looks good, love the dish but needs more low at the back.

Is your front offset/camber ok? Just doesn't look right for some reason.

Jack, pulling the sports bar off is piss easy, just some cap screws.

Then I bought a Standard tarp with no holes in it. It came in a complete kit with rods and plastic receivers and all.

I then pulled the bar to bits, bubble wrapped it and chucked it and the holy tarp on a shelf in the garage.

Dillz the car steers great, it was aligned when lowered and they didn't tell me of any probs.

However, being an untrusting person, my young bloke does wheel aligning so I do plan to have him check it.

I would also like it lower but I use it to lug my bike, tent, Barbie, tools, esky and everything to the drags so I won't go too much more.

On another note, I don't like the feel with the 2" lowering blocks so I have booked it in to WA suspension on wednesday and they will reset the leaves for approx 60mm drop and remove the blocks.

Also I have a new vibration coming through the rear end since lowering so I am seriously considering going to a BF2 tail shaft for peace of mind.

Hey mate I have a mk11 fg xr6t ute also and was going to get 2 inch lowering blocks fitted so your not a fan? just curious as I was going to get them fitted this week haha does it ruin the handling?

It feels like when I hit a small bump, the rear flexes a bit.

A bit of a boing sort of feeling, like it winds the spring a little bit.

Maybe the blocks have a bit much leverage against the springs or something but even my Missus noticed it when she was driving it around the other night.

Of course, it could be just the 20" rims but I don't think so.

Will know tomorrow I guess.
