The diff whine seems like a common problem. Mine is really bad coming back from 100 down to 90 and that's on diff number 3 with 4500 kms on the clock. Now they want the ute to take out the diff and send it to Adelaide to be repaired so hopefully its not off the road for more than a week.

zexxr8 replied to zexxr8's topic in Falcon Utes (UTEopia)
Rear end number 3 has gone into mine, and while much better than number is still a little whiny on deceleration. Apparently a new type of power steering pump is being used on the mk2's -

540Kms On The Clock And Power Steering Pump Gone
zexxr8 replied to zexxr8's topic in Falcon Utes (UTEopia)
So yesterday a new power steering pump mysteriously turned up and they fitted the whole new rear end. Service manager said car was all done and tested and ready to go. Thought I'd go for a drive with the manager before I left to make sure it was all good, and of course the new diff is really noisy, especially when decelerating from 110-80 and then from 60-40. Workshop foreman came for a drive and he agreed that it wasn't right and wasn't sure what problem was as the diff came brand new from Dana. So now waiting to see what will happen next -

So still no parts have turned up for the rear end and apparently no power steering pumps in the country ... this is turning into a joke ... And no they wont take a pump of another new vehicle to replace it. -

Bionic that's great customer service . They have had the ute for 4 working days now and still no resolve. The parts for the rear end are meant to be here today but still no word on when the power steering pump will turn up. -

So now after hearing it again this morning when they thought it was fixed they have worked out the pump is no good but don't know when they can replace it as since its a " new model " they dont have the pump as a spare part yet. -

Yep 541 kms on the clock. Has been making the noise from the first night I picked it up and was told it was rear brakes bedding in. -

540Kms On The Clock And Power Steering Pump Gone

While sorting out the power steering pump issue I told them to check on a noise in the rear when coming to a complete stop. Was told the wheel bearing is shot which has leaned on the axle and they want to replace both but are unsure if ford will cover it under their warranty. So am pretty dissapointed and will be more so if the repairs aren't approved. And ute will probably sit their for a week now as they recomend I dont drive it in the meantime. Has anyone else had this issue ? -

After having it all day was told it was excess wax they use for sound deadener on the pulley which was causing the pump to strain. But they also told me the noise from the rear was a bad wheel bearing which has leaned on the axle and they both need replacing but waiting to hear if ford will cover it under warranty. Not happy -

Its not even 3 weeks old. haven't heard back yet but surely they would have to replace it with a new pump. -
Have been absolutely loving the XR6T ute and how it drives after upgrading my BA XR8, but then a few days ago started getting a bad whirring sound on cold start up which only lasted 1-2 seconds. Then it started to do it intermittently. So took in this morning and have been told power steering pump is shot ... already.

have done 400 kms in mine now and every time I come to a stop there is a squeak coming from the rear, possibly the brakes. Told Ford about this and they said it is bedding in and will go away but it hasn't. Also when I start up first thing in the morning there is a whirr for a second or so that sounds like something is dry of oil. Does anyone else have this issue or have any idea what it is ?

I thought it was standard for a mechanic to check everything and test drive the vehicle as part of the Pre Delivery procedure . Hopefully picking mine up in next couple of days , I'll have to check the dipstick before I drive it away !

So I should of kept the BA ?

I ordered a mk2 turbo ute manual in edge with a luxury pack on thursday and they gave me a build date of early june with delivery expected mid june. Said they would give me exact date of delivery sometime next week, so I'd be getting on to them and see what is going on. My first AU2 XR8 took 16 weeks and that was only because they had forgotten to put the order in. Then when I bought my BA XR8 it took 3 weeks from order to delivery.

For running in I was told to not baby it too much and to put it under load going from 60 kmh to 120 kmh in 4th and 5th gears. Also that the new filtering systems are really good and no need to change oil till 5000 kms and then at 15000 kms and to keep using the same oil as comes from factory until then. Then at 15000 km you can run a full synthetic if you choose which will look after the engine much better especially if you drive it hard. Also with how good the new full syns are that servicing at anything under 10000 km intervals is a waste and if you don't do the kays then oil should be dropped at least every 12 months.

its for a 2012 manual ute. They told me me the wait time would be 4-6 weeks
