April 16, 201214 yr #1 Anyone have a definitive answer re: FG valve springs. Are they the same as the upgraded BF ones. Seems to be a bit of confusion out there. I am getting mixed opinions. Some say they are no good (similar to the BA's) and need to be changed, others say they are no problem. Reason being - I am thinking of getting the car tuned (FGXR6T) and want to know if they need to be changed right off the bat. Car is completely stock at the moment. Any help appreciated.
April 16, 201214 yr #2 I think the answer isSome cars do and some don't..I'd just tune first and spring later along with more mods, you shouldnt need them for tune only
April 16, 201214 yr #3 mate. valve spring's r a hit and miss mate.. some car's need them some dont.. your tuner will see when the car's on the dyno if it has valve float.. my fg f6 is making 373rwks and know valve float at all.. but I now in time they will have to be done.. Cheers mark..
April 17, 201214 yr #4 Mine 08 FG has stock valve spings mate with 100,000KM on the clock with no probs with 18psi
April 17, 201214 yr #6 It depends on supporting mods and how they deliver the boost in their tunes imo.
April 18, 201214 yr #7 Author Thanks. I spoke to a couple of tuners - both said to tune the car first. If the car needs springs it will show up on the Dyno. Both thought it would be unlikely that they would need replacing at stage one power.
April 18, 201214 yr #8 a mates 280kw fg needed them my 400kw didnt need them, fingers crossed yours are good ones
April 18, 201214 yr #9 My stock power level run at 70000klms showed up weak valve springs. They were upgraded to crow race springs prior to mods. Some cars vave springs are OK others are crap. Who knows why? Ford could have 2 suppliers.I do recall a thread somewhere where the stock springs were compression tested and found to be very weak.
