Guest XR09 Guests Posted 13/04/12 06:30 AM Posted 13/04/12 06:30 AM Powdercoat them. You take the wheels off. And then the tyres. And hand them over the counter to a man who knows what he is doing.

Guest XR09 Guests Posted 13/04/12 07:59 AM Posted 13/04/12 07:59 AM (edited) It can be easy or it can be a real pain in the ass. The more detail you go into the more mess you find.Sandblasting is the go as some etching primers will eat the paint under them. How big is yours or your moms oven. A nice little cook after painting them works a treat on the clear coats. And no dishwashers don't get them clean enough.Don't forget to remove the wheel weights. Edited 13/04/12 07:59 AM by XR09

Guest XR09 Guests Posted 13/04/12 10:02 PM Posted 13/04/12 10:02 PM Retail sucks right now. So unless your giving it away you might have it for a while.Paint looks crap pretty quick. Only takes one dog to use your wheel and you not notice it for a day or two.Powdercoating is tough. that's what it is designed for. To be tough. It lasts. Not sure if I got trade or not but paid $100 a rim to get my bike ones done. That's take in naked,,no trye or bearings in it. They blasted and coated.I was lazy I had a mate put the tyres back on for fifty.Painting will cost your around $60 to $80 for your four wheels if you can get them blasted cheap. Paint stipper will send the alloy blk. Not a good thing to use. Or heat to get the old Paint off.

I used a 500 grit then used a lighter one to smooth out. Make sure you get the right etch primer! There ferrious and non ferrious. Two coats primer and two coats colour, or three depending if you using a clear coat or not. Just watch for runs, they are a pain to fix.Corey
