My fuel consumption went from 14.5l/100 to 13.3 after fitting aps phase 3 that's driving around town and giving it a fair bit of stick. Highway went from about 13.5 to 11 that's not using the trip computer which now reads wrong.

Anyone know if the computer can be easily fixed (re-calibrated) to correctly show the instantaneous, ave fuel economy and distance to empty after being chipped?

I maybe wrong on this...

If we use say 98RON fuel all the time but on one trip we can only get 91RON or we get a 'bad' batch of fuel, the ECU can detect this and adjust the AFR and timing etc, so the engine can run safely on this fuel. Right or wrong?

So if I'm right with the above senario does fitting a unichip/exede take this self adjustability away from the ECU since the chip controls these functions? What would happen?

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but did anyone come across an answer for this one?

AND

Are all of the consumption figures out on chipped cars? ie. is the DTE still functional, is it based on fuel remaining or is it just feeding off the other readings?

Trent.

Fuel consumption figures are only in accurate if the fuel injectors are changed from standard for the reasons previously mentioned in this thread. A chip alone will make no difference.

As for the DTE, yes it does still work with different injectors however it is not accurate as I believe it is calculated on the amount of fuel in the tank AND your current rate of consumption. Therefore, in my car the DTE is always too high, but is does go down as the amount of fuel in the tank decreases. It's probably close to a fixed percentage error, but I haven't worried about working it out yet.

The performance increase you get from installling the bigger injectors (properly mapped with a chip) far outweights the fuel consumption and DTE figures not being accurate.
