The manual in the Fords is a poor gearbox in every way other than being strong.

At least its fit for purpose, cant expect a quality stick in a 40-60K car when they sell less than 1 in every 20 sold.

I like to have a manual for the fun factor. A bit of a rough box u.til you get used to driving it but strong. I doubt you will find any threads on here with manual dramas but plenty on auto failures. Not knocking the auto as they are awesome, I just prefer the manual. There is a guy my tuner knows that will run the same times down the strip in a manual as an auto, which to me says it comes down to driver error. For the strip auto, everything else manual.

The majority sold are auto's, so you'd expect a few more. Unless we include the T5.

In my opinion the ZF are great for street and strip, if you want to be throwing around a 1800kg car on the street having "fun" then good luck to ya!

If you want to go quick round a track, you probably wouldn't buy a Falcon.

I am sure you can peddle well mate, but plenty of others on here can too and almost unaminously agree the auto is faster that the manual regardless of driver ability in a straight line when comparing like model to like model.......

Who knows your car might have been an especially good one from the factory or the others weren't going 100%. Either way, the manual is more fun and we all agree on that!

Real world testing vs launching at a sticky prepped strip.

You don't have to throw a car around to have fun in a manual. The drive itself is a million times better than the auto.

I too was a deluded zf fan but I woke up to myself and realised it's still an auto. Good for cabs, women and insecure drivers. The only auto I would consider again is a dual clutch setup.

Its a bit better than the average auto. I reckon the manual is more fun giving it sh*t, but not around town driving sensibly.

Too many gears to shift, unless you like leaving it in a low gear to get attention as you drive past bus stops.

At the end of the day, its up to the guy that started the thread to decide what he wants really as they're both pretty good transmissions.

Million times better? Even in peak hour traffic? lol

Yeah, but I suppose the faster ZF can make drivers insecure - especially when looking in their rear view mirror wondering where the manual is whilst still trying to stay on the road!
