Things to watch are noise and halos with HDR. Looks a little funky around the sun, but a pretty good first effort.

The bracket you select won't always be -2 0 +2. It will depend of the conditions. Sometimes you may need 5, or even 7-9 shots to capture the range effectively.

HDR takes a lot of practice and it's very subjective to personal taste given the wide range of looks that can be achieved.

Thanks adam, I was about a minute late to the sunrise otherwise it would be dead on the horizon and would have got a better result in that area. I don't mind the halo effect though.

It's all practice. You'll look back a year from now and wonder why you even showed people some photos. I know I did. :sarcastichand:

haha for sure, it is hard to put them out there and take the criticism, but you definitely benefit from it.

I think its great posting pics from the early days of taking pics. you can see how far you have come. that's why I say to newbies to start a thread and load your pics. it makes a good read when you go back to it a few years later.

Here are some more, had a crack at some light painting in the garage (not dark enough outside yet!) I think they are ok, only used a mechanics led light. A couple need cropping too as you can see the light in the corner. Let me know what you think!
