drove one of the zf 8 speeds a couple months ago, and a 7 speed with flappy paddles the same day. Bloody good gearboxes, didn't even realise it was an 8 speed box til I shifted back to D and the tacho went down about 750 revs.

so from watching the video, its a direct bolt in that will get me a 10second 1/4 mile and halve my fuel economy

There's no way that will ever happen. Idiot.

But seriously how can you have too may gears (provided it can skip gears on down-changes)? Go back 15 years and there was probably the same hesitation about adopting a four-speed box.
