the crappy 3.5l petrol enginw just dropped the big end on friday -a reco short is 4.5k!

so im gonna do a swap instead- ideas?

3.8 vt-vy is an easy one- 5.0 v8 vn- vt is pretty easy too but a bit more exy

4.0 quad cam toyota is cheap to get (1500 front cut) with everything, but will be more stuffing around to get it in.

gonna put the auto trans in that comes with any of the above too

what do you reckon? its an ra model

Out of the above I'd go the toyota 4lt v8. Awesome sounding and better fuel economy than a v6. Not sure what the conversion would entail though

FordDriver, I'd pick the 5.0 as per Dagabond - will probably go forever and actually does sound awesome when uncorked, even if they are becoming ancient!

But Ratter and others will know whether it will work or not, I certainly can't comment on that.... :dontknow:

car can be legal- will need to engineer a v8 though. not a prob as the power to weight would be quite low....

comes with auto, ecu's, wiring looms etc so only difficult bits would be engine mounts, trans mount, tailshaft and sump. not that these are too difficult any way.

emissions would be fantastic- better than stock motor.

My understanding of the the rules and it may not be correct anymore, but if the car has a replacement engine, it must come form a car of the same age or newer to meet the same emission levels, and if from a newer car, the car must then meet the emission levels of that engine.

Also it will be a case of having the electricals all communicate with each other as most systems are can bus these days.

Almost anything is possible, but sometimes it may work ot quite dear.

I got to go with ratter here, from the picture your rodeo looks newish. I think more headache's than I can imagine. if the ute was say pre 95 then would look at a different engine.

car is 2004 and B A S I C as.

the computer only runs the engine. with a half cut all sensors/ modules/ coils etc are there, so its actually not that hard- my tuner has a guy that does all his engine swaps eg ba> into ea-el.

ill have to check on the year side of things- but the jap engines emissions would be better than the basic isuzu donk...

you should try and find a Expensive Daewoo supercharged v6 out of the vs/vt. at least it can be tuned and run a little boost, should make it hussle, and those motor's are only a little dearer than the standard v6. also try this as this guy has been doing it for years and you can buy the kit to install everything.
