Fuel economy is paramount in todays world. However, without a true measure it is difficult to measure whether your vehicle is running within correct parmeters. So is it possible to utilise the electronic equipment that these vehicles are equipped with. Therefore could we provide efficency figures that include average speed, hours and if possible distance travelled. In saying this I feel that a true indication will be average speed.

OK BF MK 2 manual

Average speed 56kmh

Consumption 11.3 l/100 km's

In short, no you can't use the electronic devices the cars come with!

Mine over estimated when I was stock by about 1L/100km. Now that I'm tuned, my specific car reads about 1.3-1.5L/100km LESS than it really is. My theory is on my BFII/ZF that when it hits 99.9L/100 under heavy accel, it might be drinking 200L/100km or more but it only records/measures it as 99.9. Now I have 300rwkw it hits 99 easier hahaha. Too many 90/100 zones on the way to work I guess :)

If we're going to post up we better use the trip meter distance/odometer and the number of litres pumped in until it is totally full (click). I've got an android app on my phone, free, called aCar which has this ability. It requires the odo reading and L filled. Last 3 fills (I also fill a jerry can each week to save me a hundred bucks a year lol) have yielded:

11.65L/100km Calculated by L poured in at bowser until click. $1.483/L = $10.48/day!

Here's the numbers from the dash cluster:

10.3L/100km Car INTERNAL reading

50km/h average speed

17.43 hours driving.

Also remember to hold trip button until it double beeps to reset all variables at the same time.

I love stats!!
