  1. Shagged Tyres At 30K? Same here and I get them rotated and aligned every 10,000km. The fronts are now on the back, but the inside edge is worn and I'll need new tyres sooner rather than later.
  2. Okay, here's mine. It may not be the best, but I am just as happy with it now as I was the day I bought it (29/07/10). It is stock except for the window tint and XR8 airbox/snorkle and K&N filter. It will easily outrun my cousins $10,000 pushbike! What more could I ask for?
  3. I cannot compare my insurance premiums with you young blokes, since it would be like comparing apples to oranges. I do remember what it was like trying to insure a Corvette when I was 19!!! I have always driven performance cars and always will. I would like to hear what kind of service and treatment you have received if you have had to file a damage claim in the past few years. I am insured with YOUI and I had to file a claim last December when a texting P-Plater ran into the rear of one of my vehicles. Their service was top shelf and I have no complaints. It's hard to put a price on good service after the sale. Confucious say, " THE BITTER TASTE OF POOR QUALITY LINGERS LONG AFTER A CHEAP PRICE IS FORGOTTEN".
  4. I forgot to add, please post some pics after you get it and congratulations on your purchase. As CBXRT said, "mate, you are worrying way too much!" You sound like an expectant father! I can understand it though if you are a young bloke and this is your first new car. I wish you years of trouble free driving.
  5. A "new" car will usually have 10km or less on it. They have to drive it from the final assembly point to a carpark somewhere while it sits and waits for a car transporter to pick it up. It is then delivered to the dealer and driven to another carpark. Then the dealer does a "dealer prep" before delivery (a $1500-$2000 car wash) and a short test drive to make sure that there are not any unusual clunking or banging noises. That's when they thrash it! Relax, it's under warranty!
  6. According to Ford and ZF the 6spd auto gearbox never needs to have the fluid changed. If the trans does need servicing for some reason, the Ford/ZF fluid is the only one recommended. From what I have read, in order to change the fluid you have to replace the plastic pan with a steel pan that has a sump plug. There are some owners who have reported having problems with their transmission, problems which started shortly after changing the fluid. That's why I said, "leave well enough alone". I am not an expert when it comes to these things, but there must be a reason why the ZF gearbox was not designed to be serviced or tinkered with by backyard mechanics such as myself.
  7. Hi Luke, A couple of things come to mind regarding the tranny oil: 1. "Leave well enough alone" 2. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"! I am also wondering why you change your oil every 3000km? I would think that every 5000-7500km would be sufficient and thereby save you some $$$ that could be put to use elsewhere (petrol for instance). I'm not knocking you for taking excellent care of your "baby", but it just seems like overkill. Mobil 1 (or any good synthetic) should be good for quite a bit more than 3000km. Enjoy your new toy!
  8. 2010 G6ET, XR8 Airbox/Snorkle, K&N Filter Distance...303k Average Speed...55kph Hours Traveled...5:24 Fuel Used...30.4L Economy...10L/100k
  9. 2010 G6ET (stock), Brissy to Melbourne return (5000k), best was 8.2L/100k. worst was 10.6L/100k. Overall average was 9.2L/100k for the entire trip. These figures are based on the actual fuel that was used and not the readout from the tripmeter/computer. I'd say that was probably doing 15% city/85% highway. Not too shabby for a vehicle this size and I did put my foot into it whenever passing (love the sound of that turbo). I have no complaints with those fuel figures. The only thing that hurt was having to pay $1.65L for 98 octane. OUCH!
  10. Welcome to the forum, griffo. Personally, I think that the Ford 18's and 19's look great on the G6ET. I don't like the look of chrome 20's, but that's just my opinion.

I agree. Try and imagine these people actually breeding. Really scary!
