You might be able to get dimming also from the cig light/power source if you give it ago.

lol ooooh a beer!! well I read it and im not looking for dimmer I dont think. I have two outlets on boost gauge one for power one for earth so I need to get power from something that only comes on when headlights turned on. do the traction control and fog light buttons light up at night (its been so long since ive drove!!) and if so would where that guy got the dimmer work as main power?? if not does the cigarette lighter light up at night and if so does any1 know which wire to tap into??

Hey Nomis,

No problems for handing the idea over, it looks better than even I thought it would.

If I was only going to run 1 gauge then I would have done it to mine but im running the double gauge on the top of the dash, so I thought I would share the idea with you.

As I said looks good.

Yes the traction and fog buttons light up at night- this will give you gauge lights that turn on with the factory ones. If you hook the gauge up to the cigi lighter you can have the gauge lighting on whenever the ignition is on, regardless of if the headlights are on or off.

Thanks guys I do want it to only light up with headlights thanks alo

There are the dimmer wires attached to the cig lighter/power source so if you dont want to go to the fog light traction buttons you can use the negative supply to the cig and one of the dimmer wires that are usually taped back rather than connected to a bulb.

When I wired the dimmer on mine I found only one side of the dimmer circuit was useful for doing it so you'll just have to try.

alright well I have installed gauges and got power from brown traction control and and earth from black fog light button now I thought that this would have a dimming effect on gauge because I connected it here (as my gauge has only power inlet no dimmer and power inlet!) so does this mean that I will not be able to dim the light from here?? just wondering if there is anything else I can use?? because it is brighter than my dash lights and is annoying!!

does you gauge have a separate light. I cant remember the colour but you use the light wire on the traction control button.

I dont think it has seperate lights it only has power and earth on back not like the other ones described with earth power and dimmer! I just want it a little bit duller as it brighter than interior lights! any ideas??
